I saw some threads that said they are former great leaders of Westeros (Targaryan). From what I read and have heard, we were actually dealing with three different types of "people". The skeletons/zombies with no blue eyes were death walkers (according to an HBO leak). These are the kind of people who attacked Bran last season. The wights are the dead who are re-animated with blue eyes The White Walkers and the wights are obviously two completely different types of creatures (the latter being dead people, or occasionally horses, brought back to life/aka the living dead), but there do seem to be two variations of wights (at least in the show, don't know about the books). Originally they were slower, like the traditional zombies we all remember from movies we grew up watching decades ago, like when they first showed the Army of the Dead at the end of season 2. But this new variation was introduced when Bran and his gang reached their current destination way up north, they came up out of the ground and look more like skeletons than zombies. More importantly they are WAY faster, like zombies have become in modern movies/TV shows as opposed to the slower zombies of olden times. Who knows if they're the same or different creatures. As far as the 4 horsemen go, I seriously doubt they used to be former leaders of Westeros. That was just the way the writers/director set up the scene as biblical reference with 4 White Walkers on horseback. They showed how White Walkers were created when one of Craster's sons was brought to the Night's King in the Lands of Always Winter. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Of all conveniences to nitpick, this seems like a silly one. I don't know why so many people are obsessed with why Mormont gave his priceless valyrian steel sword to Jon Snow. It's like a bunch of nerds arguing about the most trivial things at a comic book convention here. Just look to your link from earlier. There are minor houses on that list. No one said a Valaryian steel sword was worth kingdoms. Unless the giants traditionally burn their dead then there should be plenty of giant corpses North of the Wall from the last few thousand years. Brienne also has a Valyrian steel sword, from Jamie. Joffrey had one, but I don't know what became of it. Bran was attacked by someone with Littlefinger's Valaryian steel dagger in season 1 (he lied and said it was Tyrion's) but I don't know who has it now. Not sure who else might have Valyrian steel now. But they can get obsidian from Dragonstone and whatever minimal stock they still have from what they found on the Fist of the First men that Jon didn't leave behind at Hardhome. I think it's safe to assume that Joffrey's sword was passed onto his brother Tommen upon his death, but since he's a useless weakling I doubt that he will ever be in a position to use it. The only action that sword ever saw was chopping up the book that Tyrion gave his nephew before the purple wedding, good old King Joffrey killed a book with it. The only way a valyrian steel dagger would be much use against a white walker would be like when Sam killed one with dragon glass, by stabbing him in the back. Again by assumption, it must still be in the ownership of Lord Baelish. When Catelyn brings it with her to King's Landing, it would seem that he took (re-)possession of it at that point. Stannis said there was quite a bit of dragon glass on Dragonstone, so I imagine they will be mining the hell out of it at some point to fight the White Walkers. That would be a terrifying thought if they turned one of the giants into a wight. An undead giant might be even more dangerous than a White Walker itself. Hardhome was once almost town-sized until some mysterious disaster destroyed it 600 years earlier and it was abandoned.
