I mean they are stepping back from contender status and need to be rebuilt. Shanahan/Lynch could soon be fired etc.... But I'd never count out Shanahan, dude is great They kind of already started that process this offseason. They let some good players walk to get the finances in order. The loaded up on the defensive front 7 in the draft. They get Salah back now who should get the defense back to performing. They werent very good the last couple of seasons. The offense is heavily scheme dependant so I dont ever see the offense struggling. I would be shocked to see the 49ers move on from Shanahan anytime soon. Jed York saw what happens when you get rid of a good coach when he forced Harbaugh out.

Lawrence getting paid the same as Burrow and Allen is criminal negligence. I'm glad the Jags are in our division.

TerryBoats
I think Jacksonville is easily a top 10 offense next year. TardEnthusiast

If the Jaguars do the same, they'll be in the Top 10.
BudsOilers
Baker is better than Lawrence....Evans is better than any receiver Jax has, their OL is better..... IsntLifeFunny, and Callidus
TerryBoats
Jacksonville had a top 10 offense in 2022 with far less talent than they have now. And Baker Mayfield was never in a Top 10 offense prior to last year.

Given the evidence Baker was clearly not the issue there. Cleveland is where QBs go to die the same way the Titans have traditionally been where former stud WRs come to die. OzTitan
Assuming this is accurate https://overthecap.com/player/brock-purdy/10307 Then this is a pretty friendly deal for the 49ers. Doesn't even come close to sniffing $50M in cap until the 2028 season, but they can get out of the deal before April 1st 2027 for minimal impact so if he flops, it doesn't really kill them too much cap wise. Not really like some of the other QB deals. Callidus

Not really like some of the other QB deals. It’s an interesting contract. It’s $100M fully guaranteed over 3 years, which is good but not elite money. But if he’s still on the roster 2 years from now he’ll get a bonus and it will also guarantee his $55M salary in 2028. If he doesn’t bomb out then he’ll get paid handsomely. It lets the 49ers kick the can a little bit, without crippling anything. 2 seasons to see if he is really worth $50M per year against their cap. It also gives them 2 years to plan for his replacement. He may not have to bomb out to miss the 2027 guarantee trigger, he may just have to fail to reach a reasonably high bar, which they may be expecting.
