After the Lynch run and NE didn't use TO's (like would be expected), Seattle shifted to wanting to bleed clock to prevent NE from having time to score if SEA scored a TD. Again - the D was done and an OT strongly favored NE at that point. 2nd down was the prime spot to throw against a goal line D and still keep their one TO and have 2 plays left it the pass play didn't work. And walked right into what Belichick wanted them to do by not running the football with Lynch after getting 3 yards and moving the pile on first down. This isn't a results oriented situation. They simply outsmarted themselves. BudsOilers

They were playing their 4th string CB and a FB on the DL.......NE had scored 14 points in the 4th and were humming. They wanted to bleed the clock to not let NE have the ball with a chance to score. As for defenses knowing plays, you don't think they'd have been prepared for a goal line run play? At that point, there's little mystery to what plays you can run especially with the time situation. It's a classic case of one team executing the play better than the other team and in this case - one guy losing his assignment. They sure weren't ready for the run when they got pushed back for an easy 3 yards on first down...
IsntLifeFunny
There's simply no way passing with Marshawn Lynch and a TO on second down is the correct call from the 2 yard line. I simply don't care how you twist the logic.

I simply don't care how you twist the logic. You didn't even have the facts right on the situation. Passing on 2nd down made perfect sense. Run there and fail and you have to burn the TO and are predicated to pass only. Even prior in the game, Lynch got stopped for no gain on 3rd down against a goal line defense so the premise a run was a sure TD isn't based in fact. If anyone is twisting logic here, it's not me......

Popular Post OILERMAN
The play call was totally fine that Seattle ran. I saw that you had to go back multiple years to find an INT from the 1 yard. There had been 90+ passes from the 1 yard line in a row without an INT up until then. BTW off memory, Bud can confirm, the Seahawks were actually not a good short yardage running team. This is the most classic case of results oriented thinking ever. BB letting the clock run down without using TOs was the dumbest thing done and he got away with it. oldschool, NashvilleNinja, BudsOilers, and 2 others 4

IsntLifeFunny
It was just a horrible set of plays. They got to the one and a half. They were closer than I thought. You get up on the line run it down to 35 seconds and run the ball if you don't get it you get back on the line and QB sneak if you got closer or run the hurry up. Then you still have a TO and 4th down. No way you take it out of Lynch's hands. Not a chance.
