I’d say it would be a lot easier to enforce this executive order if Trump hadn’t slashed the Medicare/Medicaid workforce at the CDC.

Note the Inflation Reduction Act successfully capped insulin costs, this should be a bipartisan issue.  My main concern would be a lack of enforcement because of staffing and Inspector General cuts.  Those are the people who would be taking action renegotiate contracts from an order like this.

I'll believe it has substance when I see it. So much bullshit comes out of his mouth. It's like no taxes on Overtime/Tips/social security/anyone making 150k or less.

It should be bipartisan. And I don't think this will be price control. I think they are aiming to cut the middle man. At least that's the word on the street.

We'll see what happens soon I guess.

"President Trump was taking money from the pharmaceutical industry too. I think they gave you $100 million," RFK Jr said while turning back to address the president, who nodded and hummed in agreement. "But he can't be bought," the health secretary added.

As clips of the exchange circulated across social media platforms, many questioned whether the pair meant to expose how much Trump has accepted from pharmaceutical and lobbying interests.

RFK Jr seemingly intended to show that although Trump accepted the money he did not follow through on the companies' interests. However, pharmaceutical stocks rose sharply after the announcement, prompting speculation that the executive order may be more symbolic than substantive.

There we go…

https://www.irishtimes.com/business/2025/05/12/trump-vows-to-force-higher-medicine-prices-in-eu-as-he-looks-to-lower-us-drugs-prices/

US President Donald Trump has vowed to force European countries to pay higher drug prices while squeezing pharmaceutical companies to lower prices for US consumers by as much as 80 per cent in a move that Irish industry sources said could have significant impacts on the economy.

Speaking at the White House on Monday, Mr Trump said his administration would punish countries that refuse to “equalise” their medicines prices with the US or that “extort” drug companies into lowering their charges.
