Congrats to @CoachVrabel50 and the @Patriots franchise, y’all are gonna win some games.  To all the players and staff in the building, this is a little video for you to reference as you walk into OTAs. I also suggest any player that gets drafted by the Pats take a peek at this video, it may just save your life.

Is anyone here saying Callahan is better than Vrabel? I haven't seen one person say that...

Equivocating the two is definitely the point of the below ... and you weren't the only one:

So close losses count for something other than a loss?

Who cares if it was by 1 or by 100 -- a loss is a loss.

I think Vrabel probably has a better record than Callahan over the next several years, but that is because I think Vrabel's floor is higher than Callahan's. We shall see, but being competitive in a game that you ultimately lose shouldn't impress anyone.

That’s his entire strategy/mind set.  I mean if you are rebuilding like the Pats are it’s not a bad way to start but ultimately his style caps your upside especially in the playoffs as we saw.

And a loss is a loss and 6-18 doesn’t lie.

Also, Mike Vrabel is basically Jeff Fisher. He will never really bottom out, but he won't ever win anything of note. Mike Vrabel and Jeff Fisher have similar winning percentages in both the regular season and the playoffs with Vrabel having the better regular season winning % and Fisher having the better playoff winning %. (Fisher and Vrabel have the same exact overall winning % as HC with the Oilers/Titans at .538.)

Lack of subtlety in analysis is rarely a positive quality and tends to be held to only when ignorance is comfortable.

A team that is competitive but loses and a team that isn't at all competitive and loses badly require different fixes ... and if you're assessing the coaches and the talent is deemed of similar quality than competitive losses versus blowout losses guide that assessment.

We're not picking out records here. If you want to pick out a record, a loss is a loss. Bravo, you can recreate standings. We're discussing merit when you're looking at merit, a loss is not a merely loss. Reviewing it and assessing merit requires thought, attention to detail and subtlety of analysis. You should try it.

Or you can just be a dumbass fan and post useless shit. Your choice.

A coach is judged by his wins and his losses. That's it. Not the margin of those losses.

But hey, feel good about those close losses if you want to. All I know is they count the same as blowouts.

Uh, the Titans were 6-18 in Vrabel's last 24 games

The decline started before Callahan got here

Lots of factors in the Titans decline.  #1 is they don't have a QB.

Tannehill was 3-9 in his starts during this time period 👀

Proof Tannehill was ready for the glue factory. 😂

FYI in case anyone tries to claim the Pats had to hire Mayo last year. There is lots of misinformation being spread via twitter and even NFL reporters like ari meirov. Read the article below. it was simply an easy way to bypass the hiring process by using coach or executive in waiting language. Mayo was not fired because Vrabel was still available in 2025, he was fired because he wasn't ready for the job and Kraft pulled the plug after one season.

"Part of the Rooney Rule stipulates that teams can make a promotion without conducting any interviews if the candidate in question has already been labeled as the coach or executive in waiting."

"Despite the contract language, there is no guarantee Mayo is tracing Belichick’s footsteps on the Patriots’ sideline next year and other options like former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores are still on the table"

Once Mayo was gone Vrabel was a lock. This might have been one of the more attractive jobs open. Rookie QB that impressed, lots of cap, top 4 pick. Owner who wants to get back to winning culture. Build the OL and add a couple weapons and this team could take a major jump in 2025.

It was obvious Vrabel was always getting this job at some point in his career, even while the Titans HC it was probably where he wanted to be organization wise.

Also made trading him impossible. The news on that may have been accurate, but with the pats willing to play the long game it was never sn option.
