It’s the need to extract revenge (honor among thieves ) that does it.

The scene at the end where Kilmer shows up through the checkpoint but she's under police surveillance was awesome. Gives him the no go sign and you see his smile fade and he drives off. Collateral is another Mann treasure - might be Cruise's best role ever. Collateral, Heat and Thief are all pretty much great. They are all beautifully shot too. Got that neon neo noir look that I love. Cruise doesn’t really challenge himself in roles but Collateral is one of his better ones. Weird thing about Heat is that it’s the first thing I associate with Tone Loc. not funky cold Medina or wild thing but he’s the guy that ratted out the Tom Sizemore character in Heat! He was beat up too and his face was kind of scarred which adds to it. It’s devastating for her too because she knows the cops will probably figure it out and take away the kid from her. That film has all kind of great character ish stuff. Like the Dennis Haybert one where he just accepts the job as a driver and quits that awful job and regains his dignity and self worth. There’s the one with the entire Pacino/Portman. He’s a serial fuck up in his personal life and she isn’t really his kid . But she trusted that he would find her and save her after her suicide attempt. That’s the best way I can describe it. One of my fav scenes on a humor level is Pacino just taking the tv out of his house and dumping it in the middle of a busy intersection.

Never saw Willow but looked it up and now know why.....looks incredibly dumb. No wonder @Jamalismsloves it. Your disdain for fantasy films notwithstanding, the movie is really good. It's like really light-hearted hour and a half mix of Game of Thrones and Lord Of The Rings. Something a fan of gritty noir shows/films like yourself would love to beat the shit out of a fellow classmate for liking. Kevin Pollak as a microscopic weenie of a person is hilarious. But Val Kilmer made the movie hum. And I crushed hard on Joanne Whalley as a kid. Other than Dolly Pardon she was probably my biggest crush in the 80s. Having seen Willow many times, I don’t see the Game of Thrones connection at all, unless you are talking about the sword battle scenes. I always thought the other main part of the movie was Willow, the dwarf overcoming his dwarfism and succeeding . Yeah, it’s a predictable message but it works. Ok, those two microscopic who annoyed the shit out of Madmartigan were called pip squeak or something like that. And yes, Joanne Whalley was hot. She and Val made one of those thrillers a year later called Kill Me Again. Michael Madsen plays the bad guy.

I could've said Braveheart, but that has even less in common with Willow story-wise.

He doesn't walk away in 30 seconds and he clearly could have. Also Kilmer does heed the advice and walks away, and gets away. The scene where Wayne Grow kills the hooker is pretty ominous too. When she realizes he's going to kill her: "The Grim Reaper's visiting with you!" rns90, and BudsOilers

One of the favorite visual cues in that scene is that there is a damn fire truck right in front of the hotel indicating Heat. After Wain grow kills the whore is one of my favorite Pacino moments in that film, where he comforts the dead whore’s mom . Kind of a plot hole but I’ve always wondered what the hell a professional like Neil is doing with a dipshit fuck up like Wain grow. He's clearly a late addition/fill in to the crew. He jumps in and starts talking to Tom Sizemore and says he heard they were a real tight crew and he'd like to go in the future. Sizemore tells him to shut up....lol Also they are going to kill him right after they split the money. rns90, and BudsOilers

I do crack up at how he manages to weasel away when they try to kill him in the parking lot. There’s so many great lines in this film: here’s another one IsntLifeFunny, OILERMAN, and BudsOilers
