NFL econ 101....   If at all possible, draft the expensive positions, sign the cheap ones in free agency.  Not the opposite.

Brock Bowers does not get frostbite. Brock Bowers bites frost   Brock Bowers doesn't do push ups, he pushes the Earth down   Death once had a near-Brock Bowers experience.

@TitansGuru will have to take donations for the space needed for this

When you have Prag, Reo, terry, charlie, bongo all come together for a point of view you just know it's a horrible take

It’s like an all star idiot convention.

@reo

Just read the evaluation and it fits with what I've seen as well. The part that stood out to me though is him being projected as an F/Move TE. I just can't justify a top 7 pick for a guy you'll consistently have to take off the field because he can't hold up as a blocker.

Like you noted, if he's able to stack weight and maintain his athleticism then that could be a different projection, but still a projection. 230 is 20-30 pounds smaller than Kelce and Gronk.

I will say he has similar speed to Gronk, maybe faster, and has just as good of hands as Kelce. Dude has stickum on those gloves.

If we draft him I want it to be a in a trade down to the 15 range giving us the ability to move back into round 1 for an LT. We have to get an LT in this draft.

yeah i know what you mean. they also give him some good praise for his blocking. we'll see. if BC thinks he's a dynamic player, I can see it.

If we are going this route hopefully a QB drops and we get a nice haul and still get our guy. I would just be really surprised at 7 if they pass up on any of Nabors, Odunze, or Alt.

That's horrible logic.  An LT also should be a franchise player.  Missing there or getting an average player there is also a failure.

Even a solid LT that is good enough to hold the position down and not be worrying about upgrading him is a franchise changing player though

You don't know, the draft is a crap shoot, which is why positional value matters. Its easier to take a risk at a position of extreme importance like QB, LT, EDGE, WR than it is on a TE or an OG.

Take it another step or angle…which positions routinely outperform their draft slots?  It’s usually not LT, CB, EDGE,QB.  I’d be willing to say there is an increase in WR outperforming where they have been taken as well.

S, G, ILB, TE usually outperform where they have been taken.

Alt wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. I actually think Nabers is the most likely pick. Odunze? meh, he seems to me like your traditional tall athletic WR who doesn't amount to much in the NFL. I can see why people value him and BC might as well... but I've seen too many WRs like him fail to get excited about him.

Sure but the argument is that you can get a solid LT in FA or elsewhere. You want a special player in the top 10. If you go for average in the top 10 then your team will be average.

I’m just curious because I legitly want to know. Which LTs have come around free agency that gives the team years of service they don’t need to worry about the position for?

Is that what you consider average? I'll look in a few. headed back to my office from our computer room.

I don't even disagree about Odunze, but he's a much better prospect than say Treylon Burks.

No. That’s what I would consider franchise changing which was my wording. I didn’t say “average”…. I specifically said a player good enough to not worry about the position for years

I never wanted Howard back then, but am intrigued to see what a team does with Bowers.  Prag was comparing Bowers to Vernon Davis.  Looks like a lighter version of him really to me.  Bowers doesn't weigh as much and SF ended up taking a TE (Vernon Davis) at #6 that year.  Looking at both their college stats, Bowers seems better though...
