I agree...but his argument was that there is no difference between a defense giving up 3 points on 10 plays than giving up 3 on 14.  Obviously, there is a pretty big difference when it means it's more time your offense isn't on the field.  

 

Also, our offense was bad...but it doesn't help that the defense was in the bottom half on 3rd down conversion rate...guess where Cleveland was?  #1.

Carthon has the final say on the coaching staff full stop but I think its a bit extreme to suggest he simply decided Wilson was going to be the DC, the more likely scenario is he presented Callahan with Wilson as a potential option and together they went through the interview process and decided he was the best option.

 

I don't see Carthon as someone that would force a DC on his HC.
