Update: Arthur Smith fired - Does he end up back with the Titans and how do people feel about that?

I wasn't as high on Smith , but he calls plays and keeps defenses conflicted in a way which we really haven't seen since.  Tannehill broke out because during this lone stint in his career, he consistently had time to throw (which held true even with their dire OT situation in 2020)

 

Levis had a great early-down, non-PA passing EPA and the offense had a solid EPA overall under Kelly, esp considering personnel issues.  The play design was there, but his shitty play calling constantly put the QB in difficult and dangerous situations.

 

I think there's a great combination to be had.  Kelly's design in the passing game + Smith's PA/running game/red zone prowess.  If they needed to wean a young QB, I'd prefer they bring in someone new altogether.  But Levis is mostly good to go and really just needs to be put in better situations.

If Vrabel stays I don't think he'd be the OC (maybe an assistant) and if there is a new coach, no reason why Art would be the OC.

What if the HC were Schwartz with Munchak as OL coach? Smith was Munchak’s assistant OL coach one year.

He's actually got some qualifications to be an OL coach; played it in college, had the year as assistant OL behind one the greatest technique guys ever, and has several successful years as a TE coach who also do a ton of work on blocking techniques.

I'd love for him to end up as OC again here. As long as the HC is someone other than Vrabel.

Arthur Smith had a top OL, AJ Brown, prime Derrick Henry and Tannehill playing at insanely high level.

 

He's not coming back to anything close to that.

Maybe go out and snag a deep threat in FA and draft a WR in the first two rounds (alongside an LT), and I could see our offense moving up at least to the middle of the pack next year. 

We are in a rather good position to land a deep threat in the draft. If they get alt or olu in round one then worthy or Franklin should be there in round two.

 

If neither tackle is there then nabers or odunze almost certainly are, and we should be good with one of them and hop being the top end. Some solid looking tackles to be had at the top of the 2nd as well if that is the route they go.

it's also obvious from his time in ATL that feeding star players was a Vrabel trait, not Smith

 

Brown went on to have the highest target share % in the NFL the year after Smith left

I think Kyle Pitts is one of the most overrated players in the league, or he used to be. and LOL @ a RB

London is a really good WR and Robinson should have been used like McCaffrey as a weapon

 

The use of Allgeier and Patterson was hilarious, all the analytics said to use Robinson and London

 

Could care less about Pitts but they could have done a better job with him after the catch and in the RZ. I agree he's JAG

Love and respect Art but I think Kelly did a really good job this season. The OL being trash obscured a lot of the good he did IMO.
