We also didn't see Levis have to play from behind late in the game and force the ball into coverage in order to make a play.  With this roster, that day is coming.

I do want to see how he responds to that.  Basically, you are in obvious drop back passing situations with this OL and WR group, I want to see whether or not the decision making and pocket presence suffer/ or stays the same.

The chances of an Int go way up in those circumstances.  It happens to all QBs.

Almost impossible to keep up that level of play and hell certainly have bad games.

But we saw enough from both Levis today and Tannehill through six games that it's a fair argument to revisit.

Revisit?

Levis made Tannehill look like Rusty Smith.

Well he did throw 4tds in one game and Tannehill has thrown 2 in his last 7 games. Levis had the same exact people around him on offense…. The math isn’t that hard to math.

I never place a ton of faith in one single game, no matter how good or bad.     Levis showed a lot of promise and looked far better than I would have believed possible;  hopefully he keeps it up.

That being said…It’s crazy how many parallels there are with the offense’s sudden  improvement after replacing Tannehill with Levis…. and the sudden dramatic improvement we saw in 2019 changing from Mariota to Tannehill.

Same coaches….same offense…same supporting cast.    Very different results.

Mariota was 13-15 for 209 yards 4TDs and 0 INTs in his first start.

Payton Manning was 21-37 for 302 1TD and 3 INTs

Tom Brady was 13-23 for 168  0 TDs 0 INTs

Mahomes 22-35 for 284 0 TDs and 1 INT

Levis 19-29 for 238 4TDs and 0 INTs

Again.. alot to be optimistic about, but we need a larger sample size before crowning him.

doesnt take much production to realize that he should be the starter for the rest of the season

#1. Hours after the draft I started a simple thread = Levis should be the starting QB from day 1.

#2. Of course, the King and his jesters made certain I knew just how wrong I was - why would anyone want to replace the indomitable Ryan Tannehill - particularly with a scrub like Levis who has no touch, no timing, and is a horrible decision maker - did you ever see him play well against the Vols?

Victory lap over.  That was the best protection a Titans QB has had all season and the running game, also led by the guy that the King and his court despise, did more than enough to keep Atlanta off balance.

I don't believe 2023 Tannehill would have done what Levis did today - though in 2019, yeah, he likely would have.

Now the conversation will be about 'meathead' - who somehow produced a very 2023 offensive performance today despite dragging his knuckles between snaps.

In truth, we may never see Levis play a better game.  There was no film of him. No NFL tendencies. The offensive line for the most part played an above competent game.  Falcons are in 1st place - but not sure how real that is.

But for this one day - and through Thursday night - I am going to sleep imagining we have our QB for the future.  And his name aint Ryan Tannehill. As it hasn't been since 2020.

That was such an unexpected performance  offensively, on every level, that I want to forget my posts saying that this is a terribly constructed roster and imagine that the boys may be able to get on a run.

So I'm going to go with that - though Thursday's game will be a whole different kettle of fish.

Thanks for stopping by.

No one is crowning him Tom Brady or Mahommes. ... just not as pantheons RT the last couple years.

And yes it's easy to compare the mariota start... but Levis' TDs the same type of TD passes. He bought time and delivered strikes rather than read option timing passes.

We did have Atlanta off guard a little bit and had more time to prepare. As the book comes out there will be struggles.. sure. But it's not close who the better football player is at this stage between him and the former starter.
