Thinking Vrabel Will Be Gone After This Season

I think Mike Vrabel has the potential to be a really good NFL head coach but he has made some mistakes on both sides of the ball over the past couple years.

Getting rid of Pees and then Schwartz just to keep Bowen really affected the defense.

Letting players go like Reynolds and Raymond go only to see them carve out roles elsewhere especially when there are weaknesses at that very position.

Not sure if Vrabel is involved deeply in the draft but picking players like Brady Breeze over Trey Jones so they would've gotten a good prospect at a position of need.

The offensive line has no stability despite the amount of resources spent as far as the draft and free agency.

Last but not least his handling of this QB situation because we already know Willis isn't the answer,Tannehill is injured so its pretty much a no brainer to play Levis and not keep putting Willis out there.

I think at the end of the year he will either be asked to step down or make changes like letting some of his cherished assistants go and he may not be willing to do this.

There could also be tension behind the scenes between Vrabel and the GM as far as keeping or releasing players and other key decisions.

I also think there could be a really good possibility that Vrabel ends up either coaching at New England or Ohio State.....

Why does everyone constantly give vrable shit for the defense? It isn't perfect but the only stat that matters is PPG and you only have two years without someone else to look at. One year was bad, the other??? The 2nd best year for this team in total PPG not actual league rank

2023: 19.5 PPG 11th

2022: Schwartz 21.2 PPG 11th

2021: Schwartz 20.7 PPG 6th

2020: 27 PPG 24th

2019: Peas 20.6 PPG 11th

2018: Peas 18.9 PPG 3rd

This idea Vrabel got rid of Pees and then Schwartz is simply wrong.  Pees retired for the 3rd time. Vrabel clearly hired Schwartz, and Schwartz voluntarily left to run his own defense again....

There are valid reasons why Vrabel will eventually get fired but these moves aren't them.

Even if Vrabel wanted Schwartz over Bowen, If Schwartz aspires to be a head coach he prob would have still picked Cleveland

Reynolds and Raymond both thought they deserved more money and targets. They're still just role players, like they've been their whole careers. They're getting 5 receptions (total) per game.

So you're wrong about that. And Pees/Swartz. Your other argument about drafting -- LOL

It's still really early in the season, so we'll see where they end up..  but the answer is that we're losing.  There would be concerns over the lack of sacks and yards/3rd down conversions allowed, but people would be content with the defense if the W/L record were reversed

People ultimately expected the defense to do more than bend -but-don't-break.  Especially considering that they haven't really seen the great QBs and offenses of the league yet.

All this talk of firing Vrabel... and I'm not necessarily arguing against it... but what if Levis turns out to be a revelation? You think AAS is going to fire a guy who looks like he got a potential QBOTF on a 2nd round rookie contract?

I mean, which would be the preferred outcome? Levis being the QBOTF of Vrabel getting canned? How likely would it be that both happens?

You are giving some people around here to much credit. You expect them to follow two different lines of thought and bring them to a conclusion together?

Edit: Also to answer the question I think his is fine he has the new QB you are safe year right now and obviously unless he does something wacky if Levis pans out as even decent he is off the hot seat for a couple years.

The conundrum I have is that I would like Levis to pan out so we don't have that perpetually hanging over our heads. But I'd hate to see his career wasted on someone who can't or won't adapt his philosophy and get out of his own fucking way.

I feel some type of way about McNair's career for the same reason. McNair showed he was capable of being a lot more than Eddie George's caddy but he wasn't allowed to do that until the wheels fell off EG. If Fisher had his way Les Steckel would still be our OC here.
