Pure nonsense.  Byrd, Gore and Fulbright were liberal Democrats to name a few.   In fact the more Republican the South has become, the less racist.

“Libertarian”   LOL you fucking suckers

They're 100% centrists at the least by international standards

Argentina continues its dramatic fiscal rebound under Milei albeit amidst an challenging time domestically.  No sugarcoating the pivot to austerity is painful socially, and most knew that would be the case. I hope the trend is sustainable and Milei successfully rights the ship while not becoming consumed with the trappings of the presidency.

Honestly, those numbers mean nothing to me. Any idiot on the planet could do it. That's not me being facetious either, literally anyone could have done that

Of course, what will make or break Milei is how the country looks in 4 years. There are these nice charts, but it came by significantly impacting education, transport, jobs and the poorest in society. Spending is way down and might be tough to recover

Yes, it's a significant choice to make and one that works against a lot of modern ideas of what civilization and humanity look like. But there are no easy answers for the hole they're in. Setting aside any others issues ... you could view this as biting the bullet by sacrificing a generation and that sounds bad but ... it still might be the right choice, or at least a reasoned / reasonable choice (even if I don't think I would make the choice).

In other news, Milei's choice for Supreme Court is admittedly somewhat troubling.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Campaigning last year as a libertarian outsider, Javier Milei electrified rallies with his vows to destroy Argentina’s corrupt political elite. But the eccentric economist-turned-president now faces accusations of hypocrisy over his Supreme Court nomination.

What makes his choice of Ariel Lijo, 55, so extraordinary is not just the judge’s lack of appellate experience or scant scholarly publications, but that he has been accused of conspiracy, money laundering and illicit enrichment, and has come under scrutiny for more ethics violations than almost any other judge in his court’s history.

Nothing like a bit of big brother and dash of Minority Report to make you feel good about a government.

Javier Milei’s government will monitor social media with AI to ‘predict future crimes’

To be fair the US implements a lot of this technology right now. Then again the people running the show don't self proclaim as government hating Libertarians.

Viewed through a monetary lens, the math is good. Of course, the human impact is significant, suffering is severe in many cases and those who benefit are a limited class of the population.

On Monday, the national statistics agency announced that Argentina had exited a severe recession, with GDP growing 3.9% from July to September compared with the previous quarter.

But Milei’s severe spending cuts have hit the poor hard. Statistics show that for the first half of this year, almost 53% of Argentina’s 45 million people were living in poverty – a two-decade high – up from 41.7% in the second half of 2023. Some 18% of people were living in extreme poverty, while more than six out of 10 of under-14s lived below the poverty line.

In the long run, the significant human impact will be overwhelmingly positive if the math remains good. People come

to the west because it’s prosperous. If Argentina can become prosperous, the other stuff always gets better too.

Callous at best but a glorious future is often argued by those who will not suffer to become the sacrifice made to bring it into reality.

If Argentina had continued its decent, there would be no future for their children or grandchildren either. That’s not callous, that’s compassion.
