FireInTheHole
I think the emergence of Spears threatens Henry’s possibility of being the Hall. Barring injury, Spears will get more and more touches, and Henry is already in a limited role as a 2-down RB. I do hope Henry gets to achieve the Hall, but it’s going to be harder. I’d love to be wrong about it, but I don’t even know that a “fresher” Henry can hit that next gear still. We saw it kinda tapering off a bit last year. Mythos27
I think he'll help Henry this year and next year Spear will be a non-factor because Henry won't be here. Spears or not, they were always going to bring someone in to split carries with Henry. Spears is just good enough to actually do something with them. It's nice to not feel like it's a wasted down every time Henry comes off the field.
wiscotitansfan
Henry's greatest attribute since becoming a starter basically was his ability to carry the ball more than anyone else in the entire NFL (whether it be by coaches gameplan or for the most part just staying healthy). We will see what his numbers look like at the end of the year but at this point he is still #2 in carries. Before homers start whining, he does certain things great but what generally sets his overall stats apart to an elite level is how much he carries the ball. SleepingTitan
Idiotic article. 1. Giving DH less carries will prolong his career. 2. If Spears can carry the load, someone else might pay DH. People are looking to trade for Cam Akers. RB ain't dead yet. 3. He's almost done enough to get in. He's extremely well liked. Everyone who meets him says he was way bigger than they expected. You can't forget HoF is sort of a popularity contest. Perception matters.
BudsOilers
He needs the numbers though and the early years with split carries and getting 2021 cut short hurt in that regard.

For this season and beyond. I would have agreed with you until I saw Vrabel on the podium the other day looking like he wanted to let Spears bang him in the ass... Mythos27
I think we'll run enough for both guys to get plenty of carries. Hopefully Henry's total at year's end is high rather than the usual ridiculously high.
IsntLifeFunny
If Henry can play 3 more seasons he's a lock.
titanruss
It's possible the split with Spears actually prolongs his career. He's on pace for 1800+ total yards and 9 TDs while splitting carries and almost no passing help. Amy and Vrabes may force a Henry re-signing with how much they love him, how important he is to the brand currently, you won't find a better back than he that does what he does, and he wants to be here. Especially if it's just a mil or two a year for a couple more seasons. That is nothing compared to the possible revenue loss and fan backlash. If Henry shows no sign of slowing, I could easily see them keeping him around, considering our other back has no ACLs. Prolong both of their careers with a split. Otherwise wherever Henry goes he will go and dominate longer than we expect.

Jamalisms
OMG, they use Henry too much! OMG, only using Henry a lot will ruin his chances for the HOF!

Just out of curiosity what’s your thoughts on Fred Taylor? He’s obviously never making the Hall but I always thought he was a HOF back. 11,600 yards at 4.6 a pop. Tremendously consistent to. For example Thurman Thomas had about 12,000 yards at 4.2 a pop on mostly great Bills offenses. The big difference is Taylor didn’t do much of anything in the passing game compared to TT. But Taylor only making one pro bowl was a joke. He was a 230 pounder who ripped off a lot of long runs.
