I'd feel pretty good about Willis if this was year 1 and progress over an offseason instead of 2 offseasons

It’s always been about year 3 for him.  The fact that he’s showing improvement against a backups is great, because he’s barely a backup at this point.  It’s all about progress and how he looks next year.

Im grateful that the team has this type of patience.  Most teams have coaches worried for their jobs and they don’t think long term.  We haven’t had this before Vrabel ….

It's easy to have patience when you:

1. have no choice

2. have a QB already

Willis probably needs 2-3 MORE years. He should have transferred somewhere that actually used a QB

There is no fucking way that a team in this current modern NFL drafts a qb in the first three rounds and expects to wait at least 3 years to see whether or not he can play and start.

He’s no where close to being good anyway, no way ever

The Colts drafted one 4th overall. I mean, they are intent on starting him immediately, but there’s no way he’s ready.

But isn't the difference that they expect that he will benefit from the experience because he has the talent and capability to develop?

Many of us see improvement in Willis but don't see the potential for throwing him in before he's ready to improve him. Didn't work out that way last year and I  didn't see dramatic improvement from the beginning of preseason to the end... just my opinion, though.

Yeah, and they are following the playbook on how you ruin a young QB.  They are getting rid of his RB.  Ballard is probably fired next year and the HC probably the year after.

I think the main differences are that Richardson has insane athleticism and played in the SEC rather than at Liberty. But none of that means he can be a quality NFL QB.

Willis was drafted to be an upgrade over Woodside, with the longshot, because of certain athletic traits and arm strength, of being a lottery ticket, future starter. Some got excited because of the pre draft hype that he was brought in to replace RT which, imho, was never the case. Vrabel and JRob had seen enough of Woodside to know he had hit his ceiling.

I do not think he will be worth a damn. Athleticism in a QB is way overrated. Nothing against it. Wonderful if you have it. But not as important as other attributes. And AR has never shown it in any consistent way. Hope I am right.
