Durham is in the negative lol. These types of cases rarely get an acquittal and he went 0 for 2.

and then magically within minutes of the Access Hollywood tape dropping came the Russian coordinated wikileaks dump of stolen DNC emails and the troll farms' firehose of bullshit.  Trump and his team knew exactly where this was coming from and welcomed/encouraged more of it.  You never acknowledge this clear Russian attack on our elections to manipulate the voters to side with Trump!  It's okay though.  It's in the history books and again, you'll be laughed at for being complicit years afterwards, knowing that you're ignoring the truth.

The first was official acknowledgement by the U.S. intelligence community that Russia had targeted the 2016 election by hacking the emails of the Democratic National Committee and Clinton proxies — a story of momentous importance that would be immediately lost in the “locker room talk” news cycle. The second, coming just minutes after the Washington Post published its article with the Access Hollywood video embedded, was the fruits of the the aforementioned hack. This was the initial release of the “Podesta Emails,” laundered through the “transparency” organization Wikileaks. The document dump would be repeated dozens of times, amounting to more than 20,000 pages of stolen communications.

 

This was the ammunition that Trump depended on to mount his comeback.

 

But he needed an online army to help him. Trump’s could be found in the subreddit r/the_donald, a hyper-aggressive community of sincere supporters and professional trolls who treated the candidate’s every utterance like a commandment from the divine (“God-Emperor,” they called him). The subreddit gave Trump’s Internet shock troops a place to hone their messages and coordinate (unofficially) with Trump campaign proxies. By October 7th, 2016, r/the_donald would number 223,000 strong; a stark contrast with r/hillaryclinton’s 30,000 subscribers. Like many right-wing Internet havens, it had also been infiltrated by Russian operatives. (In 2018, nearly 1,000 accounts would be banned by Reddit after being found to be Russian sock puppets operated by the infamous Internet Research Agency.)

An Associated Press analysis of a dozen countries most indebted to China — including Pakistan, Kenya, Zambia, Laos and Mongolia — found paying back that debt is consuming an ever-greater amount of the tax revenue needed to keep schools open, provide electricity and pay for food and fuel. And it’s draining foreign currency reserves these countries use to pay interest on those loans, leaving some with just months before that money is gone.

 

Behind the scenes is China’s reluctance to forgive debt and its extreme secrecy about how much money it has loaned and on what terms, which has kept other major lenders from stepping in to help. On top of that is the recent discovery that borrowers have been required to put cash in hidden escrow accounts that push China to the front of the line of creditors to be paid.

 

Countries in AP’s analysis had as much as 50% of their foreign loans from China and most were devoting more than a third of government revenue to paying off foreign debt. Two of them, Zambia and Sri Lanka, have already gone into default, unable to make even interest payments on loans financing the construction of ports, mines and power plants.

 

In Pakistan, millions of textile workers have been laid off because the country has too much foreign debt and can’t afford to keep the electricity on and machines running.

 

In Kenya, the government has held back paychecks to thousands of civil service workers to save cash to pay foreign loans. The president’s chief economic adviser tweeted last month, “Salaries or default? Take your pick.”

 

Since Sri Lanka defaulted a year ago, a half-million industrial jobs have vanished, inflation has pierced 50% and more than half the population in many parts of the country has fallen into poverty.

 

Experts predict that unless China begins to soften its stance on its loans to poor countries, there could be a wave of more defaults and political upheavals....

This is part of what China does. It uses its military and threats to force smaller countries to give it good trade deals and to take bad loans. 

 

Then they'll use BS infrastructure investment in their own country to artificially raise their GDP.

 

The chickens are coming home to roost though. They're headed for an economic collapse that they're not prepared for and can't do much about. 

 

The only questions are how long they can put it off, how bad the impact will be globally and whether or not they'll invade Taiwan as a political distraction in the mean time.

Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s last legal challenge of her loss in the state’s 2022 governor’s race has been dismissed. 

 

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson ruled that Lake did not prove that Maricopa County did not verify signatures on mail-in ballots as law requires. Lake, a Republican, refused to concede after Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) was declared the winner in their race by about 17,000 votes and launched multiple legal challenges that have already been mostly dismissed. 

 

The Arizona Supreme Court had revived one challenge Lake made to the mail-in ballots in Maricopa — the largest county in the state, making up more than 60 percent of its voters.  During a three-day trial last week, Lake’s attorneys argued that evidence showed some lower-level screeners found discrepancies with voters’ signatures, mentioned them to their superiors and were ignored. 

 

Lake needed to prove that the signature verification process was flawed and that it caused the outcome of the race to change. Thompson found that the bar was not met. “The evidence the Court received does not support Plaintiff’s remaining claim,” he said in the ruling.
