The Ukrainian Air Force downed a rare Russian A-50 early warning and control aircraft over the Azov Sea on the evening of Feb. 23, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk reported.

 

Ukraine's military intelligence agency confirmed the aircraft had been downed as a result of a joint operation with the Air Force. The downing is "another serious blow" to Russia's military capabilities, the agency said. 
 
The Ukrainian Air Force had previously downed a Russian A-50 over the Azov Sea on Jan. 14. An Il-22 airborne control center was also reportedly damaged beyond repair in the same operation.

At last, Sweden will get to join NATO.

 

Sweden cleared the final hurdle to become the military alliance's 32nd member after Hungary — the last holdout among the countries — held a parliamentary vote to approve the move.

 

Budapest finally made the move on Monday, with the parliament voting 188 to 6 votes in favor of the resolution. 
 

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who has maintained contact with Russia’s Putin in defiance of Western pressure, withheld approval of Sweden's bid for more than 600 days. 
 

Now, all existing NATO allies have now ratified the membership status of Sweden. A flag-raising ceremony is expected at NATO headquarters in Brussels later this week, less than a year after fellow Nordic country Finland joined the alliance.

I doubt they were trying to assassinate Zelensky. If they really wanted to kill him they probably could have. Ballistic missiles are extremely accurate

 

Odesa is being bombed on a nearly daily basis, I think the same thing nearly happened to Charles Michel last year, it's probably just a coincidence

 

Now if they get real intel that was the intention then something has to be done

So your theory is that Putin the Benevolent wouldn't take advantage of a chance to kill Zelensky if he could? And that if he really wanted to, he could easily do it?

Zelensky isn't hiding, never has. If anyone with ballistic missiles wanted to take out Zelensky they could, that's one of the reasons Ukraine should be getting more air defence systems

 

Taking out Zelensky would be incredibly dumb, Putin is a maniac murderer but he's not dumb

It's not impossible that it was a coincidence of some kind due to the missile campaign against Odesa in recent days, but at the same time - they *knew* Zelensky was there in the area at very least.

 

Most European outlets are framing it as an "apparent assassination attempt," but I guess we don't know that definitively.

Article 5 isn't going to be induced over what was an attempted assassination. Maybe it was and maybe it wasn't. 

 

The entirety of the Western World is going to descend upon a nuclear state and cause WW3? That's what would happen if Article 5 were to come about.

 

If anything I bet Russia was trolling in close proximity. They know what would happen if they were to kill the Greek PM. It would literally be the end of the world. Let's hope they're that smart and not so stupid as to cause a WW1 type scenario except with nuclear weapons.

I read that the long-range weapons they used to attack Kyiv lacked the precision required to carry out an attack on a moving motorcade and that it was impossible for the incident to have been an intentional assassination attempt. 

 

Having said that, it's terrifying how close it came and what the consequences might have been had they murdered the Greek PM, and there was any perception that it was an intentional target.
