The one thing Trumpers care about is getting embarrassed and looking stupid. To the degree it's indefensible.  Trying to defend Trump right now makes them look stupid.

In fairness, it’s impossible to look smart when you choose to support a known liar who constantly flip-flops and contradicts himself by making official on-the-record statements…then quickly doing a complete 180 and denying he  ever said it.

The guys constantly makes fools of his supporters with his words and actions and by openly mocking and making fun of them.   Hard to blame them for laying low….even the leader they all worship calls them idiots.

It's never going back to the way it was before the war. That is certain. So even as things limp along, even when a deal is reached the Strait will never be fully reopened. How that affects global inflation for the long term is yet to play out. Thanks Republicans.

The Iranian regime is introducing a formalized toll system under the guise of maritime insurance policies and continuing to deploy incentives and threats to vessels in the Persian Gulf as part of their efforts to normalize and solidify Iranian control over the strait. This system appears designed to be more palatable than an outright “toll” by framing it as a “maritime insurance policy.” The insurance presumably insures the vessel against an Iranian attack.

Iran is also threatening to cut underwater fiber optic internet data cables some of which are in their territorital water.  This would be a major problem for banks, data centers, etc.

Don’t look now, but the pain from high energy prices might be about to bite Americans twice.

With no end in sight to the war in Iran and oil prices stuck above $100 a barrel, bond traders worried about inflation have sold off long-term government debt in the U.S. and developed economies in recent days. That has the effect of raising bond yields, including on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note, which rose nearly 24 basis points in the past week to end Friday near 4.6%.

The 10-year Treasury yield influences the cost of mortgages, auto loans, credit card rates and other consumer debt. When it goes up, consumers feel the pinch. Its rate is set by the market, not the Federal Reserve.

The new Fed Chairman is probably going to need to raise interest rates and Trump will attack him if he does.

The new chairman may be beholden to Trump and not want to raise rates, but the board as a whole makes that decision so the chairman may not be able to control policy. Trump might blame him or he may just keep blaming Powell.

Kevin Walsh has a documented history of supporting interest rate increases.  He's regarded as a hawk on monetary policy.

And is singularly the most qualified person Trump has put into any position. Someone got in his ear to not fuck with the money supply directly by hiring a sycophant.

That probably close to the truth but the bar for Trump hires is rock bottom

Problem for Walsh is that like the rest of Trump's hires it's only a matter of time before he gets thrown under the bus.

It's definitely true, but the truth's aren't mutually exclusive and if he doesn't fall in -line quickly it will be something along the lines of I barely know the guy in short order.

Anyone who goes to work for Trump isn't nearly as smart as they appear to be and is actually a fool.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist or much of a look in the rear view mirror to know what's coming.

He is bad at bluffing…

President Donald Trump said Monday he is calling off a plan to attack Iran on Tuesday after the heads of three regional powers in the Middle East asked him to “hold off.”

Trump, in a Truth Social post, said he has informed U.S. military leaders “that we will NOT be doing the scheduled attack of Iran tomorrow” in light of the requests from Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
