How is the pandemic still a lethal threat? The only people that die are unvaccinated. The most vulnerable must take actions on their own to protect themselves like with any other viral threat.

The pandemic is over in the United States, Biden lead the country out of the medical and economic crisis both - time to move on and take the victory lap. It’s a political dead end leading into the midterms to still be even talking about covid or legislating for it - it’s done. Over. Behind us.

I could be wrong, but I think he's referring to something like the PREVENT Pandemics Act. Pretty short sighted to act like because the pandemic is seen as over* that we just pretend like it never happened too.

*it's both over and not over, depending on your definition of "pandemic" imo

How are gas prices at an all time high? They were this high under Bush when the dollar was a lot stronger, ergo it was a lot more expensive.

The Dems should use that argument in their newest blame game.

BTW, nobody today gives a shit about gas prices under Bush.

Yet the statement that has prices are at an all time high would only be uttered by an idiot or a liar.

Like I posted, Dems should use your take. It will be another winner for the GOP.

Well yeah, but it should be sold as preventing future pandemics not tied to covid at all.

I don't care how it's framed. IMO it's likely going to fall by the wayside either way. We're not really good at prioritizing things that will obviously pay huge dividends, but those dividends will come at some unpredictable point in the distant future (hopefully).

Sort of like the weak ass dems not being able to get some sort of climate legislation passed with control of both congress and the white house? Its super easy to blame Manchin and Sinema for blocking everything instead of being realistic and asking them what they want as the deciding votes to get something lesser passed. They are doing the same shit with Roe cidfication right now. They probably won't have another chance for a decade or longer. The dems really suck at the whole governing thing.

This seems like a good way to just further piss off Manchin?

Unless he wanted to be seen as bucking the Dems here so he can spend the political capital elsewhere?

Maybe it’s a 5D chess move!

Gas was at least 20 cents higher under Bush then it currently is here. It's $4.15 here right now. It was $4.35 back in April of 2008.

I'm seeing an average price of $4.37 with some sources saying $4.40 as of today.

I'm not entirely sure I understand the argument that prices were higher under Bush or adjusted for inflation was higher under Bush.  Nobody pumping gas is ever going to consider this, nor should they.

It doesn't really matter what the factors are, Dems will lose elections because of these prices.  It'll be end of summer before we see a significant drop even if then.  Bringing up Bush isn't going to change that.

I'm not talking about average price of gas. I'm talking about what the price is here vs the highest I've ever seen.

Dems will lose elections because they suck and the average voter is stupid as fuck.

You don’t understand that the dollar was worth around 25% more back in 2008 as it was today? Im sure you do, so you can understand that relatively gas would have been over 5 dollars with todays money.

Lol no one is saying that’s a slogan for Dems. Don’t read the retarded shit LTF says and take it as poignant as no one is saying that. It’s called stating facts.

It’s a pointless point that changes nothing.  But whatever
