Certainly there were a number of times Mariota had guys open and didn't go to them.  I know Brown was open a few times and didn't get the ball.  Still, almost any QB can be scrutinized after watching the plays over for missing open guys.  When you put pressure on the QB it simply makes their job that much harder.  Apparently Brady has the same issues with this defense.  He must suck as well.

The bottom line is simply this.  If our OL played with a little more testosterone we win the game WITH Mariota.  That is a fact.  No, Mariota isn't superman at QB and able to make up for the deficiencies of poor play by the rest of the team (like dropping passes, penalties, missed FGs).

I agree with you but don’t think he should be given a pass just because Lewan and scaffold gave up some pressure. There are at least 2 sacks he walked right into. What happened to throwing the ball away like he did last week? He played bad and I don’t know if the defense was totally responsible for that

Beginning to think Vrabel isnt long for the Titans coaching gig. He seems genuinely clueless at times over the most everyday stuff. Not to mention he is coming off like a crybaby bitch as well. If you look at his facial expressions during games he has this look sometimes that seems to suggest he would love to be anywhere except the sideline coaching this team.

And he looks noticeably more worn out and aged. He will not be one of those coaches that hang around for 10 years, that's for sure.

I know certain Texans players, like Wilfork, said he's the best coach they've ever had, but I'm starting to think more and more that he's simply a great position coach. He isn't cerebral enough for this.

I mean if he’s really working such an unhealthy amount he needs to figure out a way to not do that. Sounds like he’s micromanaging too much.

Like he should be able to do most of the dirty work early in the week and let the offensive and defensive coordinators handle just about everything on Thursday and Friday. If he’s seriously working like 80-90 hour weeks like Gruden does than he’s just bad at time management. Now if he’s just working like 50ish hours a week than he’s just being a baby.

Hire an assistant and prioritize your time. 10 seconds in a managerial class would teach him that.

Anyone hear Vrabel's presser at the end? Someone asked him what he would say to the fans after he said they'd be better and it looks like the same old Titans?

Vrabel said he's coming to work "at the detriment to his family" to make the Titans a better team.

How is going to work a detriment to his family?

Definitely a dumb ass comment. No one gives a fuck you're spending 100+ hours a week at work. You knew what to expect when you got into coaching.

Mariota actually tried a 50/50 to Davis. He got his hands on it. The problem is that Brown was very close to him on his route and his man came off him and helped with Davis. WTF are they doing in the same area of the field?

That was just a miss, IMO.  Davis was open until Mariota under threw him and then the other CB got involved.

its happened several times even when we dont throw it there. it seems weird.

i really think its deep timing routes rather than throwing guys open.

it always seems like brown takes a late cut to pull the safety a bit deeper away from the nearest receiver, but then once the ball is in the air he runs to the ball area and it crowds the space even more.

you cant be serious about an underthrow. where do you want him to throw it? Any deeper and both players are surrounding him before the ball comes down. Any Deeper and the DB has a direct line to the ball and arrives on time.  As it stood, the DB had to curve his path and got there late enough to only clean up the already incomplete pass.

Davis had a 1 on 1 and didnt win the opportunity. Its not even a blame on Corey, the first CB broke the play up well. If CB#1 doesnt break up the pass, CD catches it cleanly for a first and goal.

theres a ton of shit to complain about, this is not one of them.

So frustrating seeing raw numbers like this where we are basically conceding 7pts a game less than any other AFC South team right now and absolutely wasting this top 5 defense with the abomination that is the offense.

At some point one of the genius' running this organization is going to realize "hey we are wasting this fine defensive effort.  And we need to score more"

One would hope that it's not too late when they realize this.

I really don’t think our offense is as bad as the numbers. Not saying we are elite but it will look a ton better.
we move the ball ok. We just need to clean up penalties that have taken us out of the red zone and put us in shit position to start drives. That and FGs and we are pretty easily 4-1 against 4 very good defenses and a couple of very good offenses.

there’s more to complain about of course. The conservative offense, the sacks.. but clean up penalties and FGs and we compete easily with anyone.

Titans have taken the 7th fewest penalties in the league.  You have a backup kicker you picked up off the street.

You're not going to have 0 penalties week in and week out.  You aren't going to hit 100% field goals every week.

Amazingly, somehow other teams put up good offense all the time, in spite of penalties and they overcome missed kicks.  Weird!

Every team in the league has dropped passes. Mariota has just as many that are thrown poorly, like the one to Smith of 5 yards that went to his ankle. One to Lewis was leading him while he was sitting static for a checkdown. He threw another 5 yarder to Smith above his helment, but he pulled it down for the long gain. It's just pathetic when your QB can't even place 5-10 yard passes correctly.

titans are way up near the top on drops. and i think the very top for drops per pass thrown.

The Jets only have 1 dropped pass to the Titans 10.  The Redskins only have 3.

It's a meaningless stat that doesn't say anything.  Passing yards generated, 3rd downs converted, TDs thrown.  These are stats that actually matter.  WR drops is so heavily influenced by the context of the throw.  A lot of drops, in many cases not always, just means the QB is struggling with ball placement.

I clearly remember 4 drops from the Bills.  Corey Davis, which was a tough catch.  But that's the type of throw everyone is bitching Mariota to make, and it did hit Davis in the hands.  I won't blame Davis because it was a difficult catch.  I do blame 3 drops on our WR's though Walker, Lewis, and Humphries all dropped easy 3rd down passes against the bills to move the chains.  The WR's don't get many chances but they need to do their jobs when they get their chance plane and simple.

Nobody asked him to throw a short soft pass that 2 CBs had a chance to catch up to.  People act like Davis was covered and Mariota threw a 50/50 ball, when he was open until Marcus under threw him.
