9 Nines
@Legaltitan I half-heard something on TV, and I want to see if what I took from it makes sense. A legal commentator was making a point about Cohen lying to Congress. He pointed out that Cohen, an attorney who would know the ramifications, lied to Congress and the lie did not benefit him but instead benefitted Trump. I missed what he said before that. I think the point he was making is that that scenario would be pretty good evidence of Cohen's claims that he was directed by Trump to lie. It seems consistent that an attorney would not perjury himself, on a lie that did not benefit him but instead benefited someone else, unless he was influenced to do so. Justafan
https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/07/20/pentagon-announces-200-million-in-aid-for-ukraine/ What's hillarious to me is that the guy who claims no one else knows what they are talking about because Trump is now giving 200m in military aid to Ukraine got several key elements wrong. You know, little things, like Congress approves these funds and not the President, or that the Pentagon asked for funds to deter Russia while Trump complained that Eastern European countries weren't contributing enough much less give them additional money for defense. https://112.international/ukraine-top-news/obama-signed-us-defense-budget-with--350-million-assistance-for-ukraine-12406.html Oh and Obama signed a defense budget that included 350 million in aid to Ukraine. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ukraine/@48.8891097,31.0695679,6.24z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x40d1d9c154700e8f:0x1068488f64010!8m2!3d48.379433!4d31.1655799
Justafan
The Bill that Congress passed against Trump's strong objections included: Countering Russian Influence in Europe and Eurasia Act of 2017 - The President must submit for congressional review certain proposed actions to terminate or waive sanctions with respect to the Russian Federation.[11] Specified executive order sanctions against Russia shall remain in effect.[11] The President may waive specified cyber- and Ukraine-related sanctions.[11] The bill provides sanctions for activities concerning: (1) cyber security, (2) crude oil projects, (3) financial institutions, (4) corruption, (5) human rights abuses, (6) evasion of sanctions, (7) transactions with Russian defense or intelligence sectors, (8) export pipelines, (9) privatization of state-owned assets by government officials, and (10) arms transfers to Syria.[11] The Department of State shall work with the government of Ukraine to increase Ukraine's energy security.[11] The bill: (1) directs the Department of the Treasury to develop a national strategy for combating the financing of terrorism, and (2) includes the Secretary of the Treasury on the National Security Council.[11] But @Rolltide said that it was just an executive order that Trump could overturn with a pen! Who's making shit up now? They had to threaten him just to get him to actually implement the law at the last second. OOPS!

As you said though, when it comes to the facts, it's not even close. Some on this board have gone as far as to say she's as bad as Alex Jones. Crazy. It's a basic smear campaign. She's on top of it and they can't refute it so they smear her and portray her as far left (she is left but not equal and opposite of Jones/Hannity) so their listeners and followers will just dismiss anything she says without paying attention. Yes it would definitely be evidence of that, but not definitive evidence given the kind of people Trump has in his orbit and the fact they lie all the time. But, the short version is, to quote Scaramucci: "the fish rots from the head."

Well yeah, but she is also unapologetically partisan. She makes no secret about being very liberal and progressive. That's fine and all, but it makes it easier to dismiss her show as one big editorial rather than fact-based reporting. I mean she created her own reputation. Of course the criticism goes way overboard, but it is what it is. She also didn't help herself with her Al Capone's vault moment when she had the tax returns. that was pretty bad. And honestly she just is really hard to listen to. Her sort of always half-mocking, sarcastic tone she says everything in is just very very grating to me, and is sort of the way a conservative would expect some smart ass east coast liberal to talk. So I guess I'm saying the criticism is unfair, and she's doing good work, but all the elements are there for any conservative to reasonably detest Maddow and dismiss what she has to say. I wish I could enjoy her show, but even as a total anti Trump guy and progressive I can't listen to more than a couple of minutes. It's just too much. Trump's opinion was publically known. He was saying that he had no contact with Russian. Cohen didn't have to have explicit instructions from Trump to lie. He could read on twitter or watch the news to hear the company line.

freakingeek
Today we should hear what impact Flynn's case has on collusion charges when Mueller recommends Flynn's sentencing. It will be public documents so I expect new revelations to come out. Mueller may not tip his hand but there will undoubtedly be new info relevant to Trump. Tomorrow will be Manny's turn but I suspect since he's done everything in his power to obstruct that there won't be any big surprises. Manny has screwed himself by lying to the grand jury in hopes of a pardon. I hope they throw him UNDER the jail. That sleazy bastard is a bonafide traitor and should get maximum sentencing. begooode
From yesterday's reporting: "When you're attacking FBI agents because you're under criminal investigation, you're losing" Sarah Sanders - 3 Nov 2016 "Bob Mueller (who is a much different man than people think) and his out of control band of Angry Democrats, don't want the truth, they only want lies. The truth is very bad for their mission! He makes up stories. They only want lies." Donald Trump - 3 Dec 2018
