Good Lord, Trump denied Pelosi her flight on a military plane this afternoon.  Mission accomplished.  His base has some piss n vinegar to keep them distracted from the shutdown for the next 24 hours.

Trump's letter stated she should stay here because of the shutdown.  Apparently he forgot his trip to Iraq less than a week after it started.

And just imagine if a Democrat had called visiting the troops a PR event...

Representative Gonzales, whose district is part of the border, met with President Trump yesterday.  Gonzales told The Houston Chronicle  that from listening to President Trump, he believes Trump really believes the crazy things he said.  Gonzales said anyone familiar with the border knows those views are crazy and not how the border is but he feels the President really does.  He says the President is in Base-land - really believes the crazy stuff the President's base does.

Democratic group to launch ads targeting six GOP senators over shutdown

Majority Forward, a Democratic nonprofit group aligned with Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), has produced 30-second ads taking Republican senators facing potentially competitive reelection campaigns to task over the lapse in government services.

The ads target Sens. Martha McSally (Ariz.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), David Perdue (Ga.), Joni Ernst (Iowa), Susan Collins (Maine) and Thom Tillis (N.C.), the organization told The Washington Post.

As ominous music plays, a narrator points out that this is “the longest government shutdown in history,” and warns of the impact on food safety inspections and air travel security.

The ads are tailored to raise state-specific concerns about the effects of the shutdown. The North Carolina ad underscores the strain on hurricane recovery efforts.

“Across Iowa, countless farmers cut off from the vital programs they rely on,” the narrator says in the commercial targeting Ernst. “. . . Instead of being independent, she sides with her party leaders, who refuse to even allow a vote to reopen the government.”

This afternoon a government 757 took Melania to weekend vacay at Mar-a-lago. What an idiot. As we all know

Damn that William Hurd guy, speaking truth to the sheeple:

Republican Rep. Will Hurd (Texas) is pushing back on President Trump's claims of a crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, calling the hype around illegal border crossings a “myth.”

'It is a myth," Hurd told Rolling Stone in an interview published Friday. He also called Trump’s long-desired border wall a “third-century solution to a 21st-century problem.”

“What I always say is building a wall from sea to shining sea is the most expensive and least effective way to do border security,” Hurd said.

Hurd, a former undercover CIA officer, is the only lawmaker representing a border district who is a Republican. His district is one of the largest in the country with the Texas 23rd Congressional District including 820 miles of border between San Antonio and El Paso. The Republican lawmaker told the outlet if there was a crisis of illegal border crossings, the “first step” should be paying the officials dealing with it.,...

Trump just tweeted that he is going to make a major announcement tomorrow PM about the shutdown and the border.

I see two possibilities:

1.  He caves, paints himself as the bigger man, doing it for the good of the country and vows to settle it in the next election.

2.  He makes an offer to Pelosi that she won't accept and attempts to shift the media narrative to democrats being at fault.
