I always thought it was staunch libertarians pushing cryptocurrency. I think there is overlap in libertarians between down on their luck, poor ones as well as won-the-lotto billionaires who got lucky like Musk, both crazy. 9 Nines
8-2-22, Michael Saylor steps down as MicroStrategy CEO, company takes $917 million charge on bitcoin. In a statement, MicroStrategy said Saylor will focus primarily on, "innovation and long-term corporate strategy, while continuing to provide oversight of the Company’s bitcoin acquisition strategy." Most sites list him as owning under 25% of MicroStartegy although one site, a Wiki type site, lists it a 77%. The credible sites list him owning under 25% https://fintel.io/so/us/mstr/saylor-michael-j and institutional ownership in 65%: https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/mstr/institutional-holdings Assuming those are right, then the above news is PR speak for the institutions firing him. ""As Executive Chairman I will be able to focus more on our bitcoin acquisition strategy and related bitcoin advocacy initiatives, while Phong will be empowered as CEO to manage overall corporate operations,” -Saylor" We'll see how much changes on their strategy.
