9 Nines
This is funny. Some crypto weirdo has defaulted on his account at a crypto exchange which has caused the exchange to halt. As with many of the outspoken ones, he is a libertarian. He seems to still be upset that the government put him in prison for selling fireworks on Ebay and shipping them undisclosed in US mail - thinks people should be able to do anything they want even if it could cause fire or injury to unsuspecting mail handlers. He denounced his US citizenship years ago after getting out of prison and now defaults on his debts: https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/coinflex-roger-ver-bitcoin-jesus-cryptocurrency-exchange-customer-withdrawals-recovery-2022-6 OILERMAN, and titanruss

I believe he had at one point 100,000 bitcoin before the fork and he's pretty much left with nothing, LOL titanruss

OILERMAN
Dr. Nicholas Weaver: A Computer Scientist's Perspective on Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain | RR: UC7 Dr. Nicholas Weaver’s well-known lectures on cryptocurrencies explain why he believes it needs to be “burned with fire.” Today, we speak to Dr. Weaver, an expert in computer science and a long-time observer of the cryptocurrency space. He holds a BA in Astrophysics and Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, where he was also a lecturer until recently. His primary research focus has been network security, among other topics. His interest and search for comedy “godl” have also resulted in published papers on cryptocurrency. In our conversation, Dr. Weaver untangles the complexities of the perceptions of cryptocurrencies with the actual technology. We talk about decentralization, if cryptocurrencies are achieving it, and the underlying concept of blockchain technology, as well as whether or not blockchains are secure and what the potential benefits of cryptocurrencies are to developing countries. We then go into detail about why Dr. Weaver thinks the crypto space is not beneficial, why prestigious academic institutions are teaching about it, and why he thinks it will never work in the log-run. Please tune in for a truly eye-opening, no-holds-barred episode as we learn the harsh truth about cryptocurrencies with expert, Dr. Nicholas Weaver! pat

I saw this happened back in June Blockchain technology is "poorly suited for just about every purpose currently touted as a present or potential source of public benefit" and must be approached with skepticism, a group of 26 high-profile computer scientists, software engineers and technologists wrote in a letter to U.S. lawmakers Wednesday. pat
OzTitan
The technical benefits or achievements of blockchain require you to already believe in the existence of a very specific problem and also rigidly believe that blockchain is the only solution to it. So it's of no surprise that technologists who aren't invested in the cult of blockchain see little to no value in it, it is a highly functioning snake oil whose only purpose is to underpin the "decentralized" internet culture. Blockchain is bad for most things. It is really inefficient, even under proof of stake. For Bitcoin, specifically, blockchain aka timechain and proof of work enable Bitcoin to operate as the premier permissionless, trustless, non-sovereign monetary network. An ecosystem that is no closer to being more important to every day human life or human society than it was the day it started. The question is the necessity or even genuine practical merit of this ecosystem. And while people tout the ability for networks like Bitcoin to bypass intervention, it's not like it has yet been subject to any real attempt at genuine scrutiny, so that is largely academic at this point. A well resourced nation state who wanted to effect or destroy it may not leave the ecosystem so healthy. True it might make individual transaction scrutiny more difficult, but the thing about government systems is they tend to get the backing of their goverment's might, and without that, you have unique vulnerabilities. Do you genuinely believe that the fiat / central banking / debt system is sustainable? Do you believe that the massive sovereign debt will just disappear? Bitcoin was literally created for the inevitable demise in this system and we are far closer to that demise than ever. Bitcoin is pure, hard money. Native bearer asset with zero counter parties that is non-sovereign. If you can't understand why it has value, I don't what to say.
