What I think is going on is the GM maybe wants to hold Luck out, maybe even put him on IR for the season to fully heal, and he's getting pushback from Pagano, who obviously needs Luck to help him salvage his job. Maybe Irsay hasn't given Ballard the green light to shit can Pagano yet and it's causing a lot of issues internally and they're just trying to keep a lid on things best they can.

I know one thing... I bet there are a lot of Colts fans who wish they'd stuck with Arians as the full time coach. If the organization had any balls they would have absorbed the PR hit and gone with the right man for the job.

While Arians is a better coach, Luck would have been dead even quicker had Arians been coach. His long developing routes get QBs killed without stellar o-line play(see Carson Palmer 2016 vs Carson Palmer 2015), and seeing as Grigson has no idea how to draft o-line talent, Luck may very well have been retired from football right now if he had to play in Arians' system behind this o-line.

It's like Norv Turner's system. You better have a real good OL to play that way. That's my biggest criticism of Arians. He hasn't always adjusted well to that.

With Luck at QB, my 100% focus would be Oline & TE.

I don't think Pagano is a very good coach but Grigson was a truly horrible GM who blew draft after draft after draft. He was the main problem there.

Arians is a great HC & OC, there's no question about that. He really revived Palmer's career. But Steve Keith has been awesome, the guy has brought in all kinds of talent in Arizona.

I disagree that Pagano is a bad coach.  In fact I think he's a good coach and has done a great job getting what he's gotten out of arguably on a year in and year out basis one of the least talented teams in the league.  And getting the team to 8-8 in 2015 when Luck missed the final half of the season and was 3-5 I think when he went out was borderline coach of the year material.  I just don't think people realize just how untalented that team is.  If Luck is out for an extended period of time I could see them challenging the Jets in the period that he's out.  They're that bad.

Grigson's appalling incompetence as A GM makes it virtually  impossible to assess Pagano's coaching acumen.   As bad as the Reinfeldt/Webster era was for the Titans....I'd trust their talent assessments over Grigson's any day of the week.  I can't help but laugh at what an utterly incompetent and self-important douchebag that guy was.

Grigson getting fired was arguably the single biggest loss of the offseason for the rest of the division.  Every day that asshat remained employed was a gift for the Titans, Texans, and Jags.

("Titans and Texans and Jags....oh my!!!")
