John Elway played QB, he knows. That's why he's putting a journeyman or a rookie behind center on a championship team. I think he's putting a journeyman/rookie under center because what other choice does he have. As far as paying QB such a high % goes, that's the nature of the league. I think it's amusing how much people have bemoaned the lack of a franchise QB here, yet bemoan QB getting paid so much. We're going to be paying Mariota quite a bit. Despite the heavy cost, I'd probably pay Mariota or any other young franchise QB the steep price it takes. Unless you like the other scenario with no franchise QB. I don't think McCarthy is a good HC and I don't think the GB roster is that good either. When they've had to go against the better rosters (i.e. ARI, CAR, SEA), they've kinda gotten exposed. Rivers, Cutler, Ryan, Stafford, Bradford, Flacco(who makes nobody's list so far), Dalton, Smith and even Palmer(?) are guys who will use up all your cap keeping you from fielding the best team to win championships. Because any grading approach that counts last year at all & doesn't have Cam in the top 5 is flawed. He was a no doubt about it top 5 last year. If I have to win next year disregarding any scheme this is my top ten. 1. Tom Brady- He is so damn good. No. 2 isn't close in my book. 2. Aaron Rodgers- Only reason the Packers ever win any game. 3. Cam Newton- Hate him but respect his game. 4. Ben Roethlisberger- Just incredible when healthy. 5. Russell Wilson- Does everything really well but nothing the best. 6. Carson Palmer- Arians is a miracle worker but Palmer is great as well. 7. Drew Brees- Underrated. He's been so good for so long that people are just used to it. 8. Tony Romo- You don't realize how important he is until he gets hurt. 9. Kirk Cousins- My fave young QB (besides Mariota of course). Does everything you want and more. Has the it factor. 10. If we're only basing it on last year, I can see Palmer as a top 5 QB.
