If I'm tossing that much money at a big man, it's going to be at Horford not Howard. Oh since we're mentioning big men, Kevin Love might be a decent choice via trade since he's making 20 million (bargain compared to some of the contracts that will be handed out to this summer because of the cap). Perhaps Kareem, maybe Wilt? Take Lebron off. Put Kobe in. Kobe has 3 more rings and a 5-1 record in the finals. Way better than 2-6 potentially 3-6 or 2-7 Kobe also never needed Bosch and Wade to win it. He beat Allen, Peirce, and Garnett with Odom, Bynum and Gasol for sakes... Granted Gasol was a monster. And using finals record as a metric is very poor. Didn't we have this discussion last year? The other two (Bynum + Odom) were out of the league for off field issues not talent related. If you want to give credit, credit Jackson for getting the most out of them.
abenjami
It also makes no sense to compare Kobe's entire career to LeBron's when LeBron still has some prime years remaining. But if you really want to go that route, perhaps we should also include MVP's and career PPG, RPG and APG.

They have tons of cap space for Howard, the Celtics are welcome to him and then Horford can come to Houston to replace him.

I dont think you can say Kobe or Lebron is on it. There have been so many great players. They deserve to be in the conversation but I think some of the older guys are definitely ahead of them. Bill Russell, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Bird and Jordan are all solid choices.

Jordan also had the SAME sidekick for all of his finals who was a perennial ALL STAR, HOFer, and took the Jordanless Bulls to the ECF finals. I was speaking to Kobe-Lebron.

But what you said is a constant theme for people who try and downplay Kobe and those same people don't want that to apply for Jordan. Lebron is a tremendous athlete and IS capable of doing more than Kobe and Jordan, on the court. But just being an athletic freak capable of greatness isn't good enough to be considered better if he couldn't beat the achievements of those he is compared to. Not saying you were. And also not say saying you were, but people who want to put him (LeBron) on the Mt. Rushmore are just going off of his athletic ability and and the eye test more than his accomplishments. Accomplishments are only part of the equation. Look at Barry Sanders. Fantastic stats but he's never mentioned in the same conversation about the greatest RBs of all time because he was on shitty team his entire career. There's no doubt Jordan benefitted greatly from playing with Pippen with Jackson coaching. He was always on the worlds biggest stage because of it. The Mavericks and the Pistons are the only teams that come to mind that didnt have multiple stars. Dirk is a great player but he is far from being in the discussion for top player of all time. The Pistons had 5 solid players who had good careers but none of them are HOFers. Its rare for players to do it by themselves regardless of how great they are. Most teams acquired their star players through drafts, trades or paying big bucks in FA. Rarely do you see 3 max contract players in the prime of their careers take pretty big pay cuts to team up. Thats a big reason why I dont like Lebron.
