Exactly.  And we've had it worse than most fanbases.  If Mularkey can win with Mariota and Robinson so could Hue Jackson or Mike Smith. The FO missed an opportunity to sell us optimism and instead made 95% of a fanbase despise them.

Come draft time you'll be wearing a Titans jersey

Of course but that doesn't mean the end justifies the means. The ownership insulted and lied to their fans.  That may not matter 10 months from now but it does matter right now and even winning doesn't mean they made the correct decision.  Their process was handled poorly, probably the worst it could have been, and the public perception of the people that run the team flipped 180 degrees almost overnight.  Winning fixes all, but the Titans don't have a great track record of that.

This is the point I tried to hammer home in my post right after the hire was announced. Nothing that happens from this point forward will ever change the fact this process was botched and a complete joke. On paper, the decision to hire Mularkey was not a good one and the way they went about it was flat out terrible.

On the other hand, the Whiz hire looked good on paper. We talked to Zimmer, Gruden, and Caldwell in addition to Whiz. It was a better process...but it didn't work out. I think success is possible because of Mariota...that's how good I think he is. But it still doesn't change the numerous bad decisions they made in hiring Mularkey.

I didn't think it was possible, but I think some just fundamentally disagree with the idea that you can have a good result from a bad decision. Or vice versa. That...or they just really enjoy the exercise of argument.

I'll try one more example on this... Say you have a murder case and the judge is a complete clown. Say he ignores the law and years of how the legal justice system works and renders a verdict of guilty, even though everything points to the guy as innocent. We would call it a terrible decision and a terrible way to conduct business.

Fast forward years later and let's say new forensic evidence comes available and confirms the guy really was guilty and the judge's verdict was correct. Would we still say the judge rendered a good decision even if it turned out to be "correct?" Of course not.

You know, lots of us said the same things, before Oman did in fact. Oman is the most memorable to most of you because of HOW he says things and because he's been here the longest. But there were many people trying to fight against the tide of anguish that hit the boards for a few days there.

I'm not saying this to get credit, but as a reminder that Oman was NOT a lone voice of reason. There were many saying the same thing.

Yeah I know, but I was just referring to the podcast here. I didn't want to see the push back against the tide too soon, I was getting a kick out of it. You'd think this silly little first world problem was the coming of an apocalypse with all the whaling and moaning.

The reactions are highly justifiable.

We're coming off 2-14, 3-13...with a guy who hasn't shown himself to be worthy of a third chance.

Some of the grievances are justified imo. Some were not or were made too big a deal of which resulted in many of the reactions that were over the top. And some of the complaining around here seems based around conjecture.

I never claimed to be the only one, there was others. I wouldn't say "many" said the same thing though. More like a handful.

Josh McDainel?

You take McDainel away from the Pats and the guy is a totally clueless buffoon.

As the Bronco's head coach he traded away Brandon Marshall and people might forget he actually tried to trade Cutler away for Matt Freaking Cassel. I was so busy making fun of McDaniel for trading up for Tebow I had forgotten about him trying to get Cassel. He was a maniac on the sidelines and totally out of control with his ego.

His one stint with the Rams in no way adds to his resume, it was a disaster.

If you trade up in the 1st round for Tim Tebow your disqualified from my coaching search.

BTW, no one else tried to hire him either

lmao. You're an idiot if you don't think McDaniels would of been interviewed/hired if he wasn't busy ON HIS WAY TO ANOTHER SUPER BOWL.

Also he wouldn't of been hired with roster control....sooo....

undoubtedly McDaniels would of got more HC interviews than mularkey woulda had oc interviews

BTW, dolphins tried.

Belichich doesn't make any difference for the 2011 Jags

They would have been closer to 8-8 under Bellichek. The guy won 11 games with Matt Cassell one year.

I know you didn't. I was specifically quoting the person who seemed to be implying that. But he's explained what he meant, and it makes sense. I'm not sure what the difference between many and a handful is, but I've been fine with Mularkey the whole time. Not my first choice, but fine with it. The Robinson hire is why I'm excited. I think it's the most important move we've made by far. I like what AAS is doing so far, even though I agree with others that the way the HC thing was handled wasn't great. I don't think it was as awful as most people around here seem to think it was, though. This sort of thing happens all the time in the NFL. Owners often know whom they want before they start interviewing candidates. Miami just promoted from within. That wasn't a real search, either, but they got the guy they wanted the whole time. Our owners wanted Mularkey, and I think Mularkey will do well. But that's because I don't blame him for the Jags record when he was there for ONE year (I mean really, who can do anything in a year with Gabbert and Henne as your QBs?) or when he took over here (We were awful and injured...no chance for success).

The players like him, and I think the tweaks he made were really good ones. I'm excited to see what a full offseason will bring. I'm not even upset with the Robiskie hire, if that's the way we go (looks likely).

Whiz getting to two wins with precipice-of-retirement-Jake-Locker, Clipboard Jesus and rookie Mettenberger on a bum knee is possibly the greatest coaching job in the history of the NFL. They were even transitioning defense!

Nobody could expect more. I miss him already.
