who cares if it should have been called back? The point is that all NFL teams that run a variation of the ZR pass out of it from time to time. Maybe Oregon didn't but that's irrelevant. Either way no one is confusing the spread with the ZR so cut the bullshit. I'll say this much while I don't like your condescending attitude you do know your Oregon football.

Condescending attitude?  Jesus Christ!  Look in the mirror sometime, please!  No one here is worse than you.  Do some reflecting or praying or meditating sometime!

... and one lousy Super Bowl for the skunk franchise lucky enough to reach the NFL drain TWICE... when the two best QB prospects in the last 20 years become available. Get yer shit together...

It's hard to get yer shit together when your foot is so far up somebodies ass.

yes or no, would you take 1 championship over 20 years? I would.

Damn straight I would. I personally think measuring a teams long term success using championships as the only barometer is faulty. Once you get to the final four or so luck plays such a big factor. I find the Pats & Colts winning 13 games or so basically every year for a decade to be one of the all time impressive accomplishments.

Nothing condescending about what Titanduckfan has said. Some clearly can't tolerate another person who is more knowledgeable and thus they become butthurt and slant it as "condescending". Clearly he knows more about Mariota and the Oregon offense than any of us and that's fine. Glad to have him on board. There were a lot of preconceived notions and misconceptions about Mariota before the draft and he's clearing some of that up.

Fuck yes.  We've only reached the Super Bowl once and the AFC Championship game 2 times in the 25+ years I've rooted for this team.  So an absolute yes.

1 is better than none without a doubt, but you gotta admit that it's a huge underachievement give that this is a QBs league and they've "enjoyed" having the two best in a long while. However, Luck is just a young veteran. Let's see what they can do... and now we have Mariota!

Just for shits and giggles I got on you tube and looked at some of Baylor's old cut ups.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yYDll6Wulgk

If you watch this cut up you will see several examples of the zone read concept being used on a passing play or to set up a play action later.

For the record, no one is saying the zone read isn't a running play. No one is saying that Oregon doesn't use the inside/ outside zone for running with spread concepts for passing. In fact it was said several times I don't care about Oregon Football.

You said that no one passes from these concepts because it's too hard to tie the run blocking and the passing without drawing a flag or it will get the QB killed. It's just not true. I never said anything in regards to MM, as I know he was used differently in that scheme but there are literally hundreds of videos on YouTube showing QBs like RG3 and Russell Wilson making a read to hand off the ball, run with it or keep it and throw the ball on a specific route depending on his post snap read. You can interpret that anyway you like and call it spread offense if you want but most would call it Zone Read Choice, Zone Read Slant, Zone Read Bubble or something to that effect.

Anyways, I've invested enough time and energy in this little debate so I'll just move on now. I'm much more interested in the Titans upcoming preseason game than discussing Chip Kelly's genius or MM's college HOF career with ducks fanboys.

Yes. The fact that the Bills and Vikings have lost 4 Super Bowls is amazing-- especially the Bills. Those losses either were or nearly were consecutive.

As a fan, I'd much rather my team be perennially competitive while setting a high standard of consistent performance. In other words, I'd rather not be the franchise that has one fluky Super Bowl winning season while otherwise managing 6 to 10 wins year-in and year-out. I'm sure the players feel differently because for them it is an ego thing. I just want an excellent product to watch every year.

I largely agree with you but if I had to choose between a fluky super bowl year and what we've had recently, I'd take the fluke any day. At least that one year gives yo something to hold on to. Most of us are still holding onto being in the SB in '99.
