Matt Miller tweet about Chargers moving up...

Mett did get hurt this year...but the reason he even got that opportunity in the first place was because the 2 QBs ahead of him also got hurt.

He actually played more and took more hits than the other two before the first injury. Clipboard Jesus didn't even make it a quarter before he was knocked out multiple games.

Because if you ride Mett, you're passing up the chance to draft a very highly thought of QB prospect in Mariota or Winston.

He's so highly thought of, just 6 months ago he was in the elite "2015 weak QB class draft" club.

Very true. If MM grades out as several degrees better than Mett you take him and don't look back. You put everything you have into developing him and hope he is the guy we've been looking to get for a long time. But, if you see his flaws putting him in a similar trajectory in terms of danger of not developing as Mett then he isn't the guy, even if five years down the road you end up being wrong.

To me, Mett has a better chance of developing than any rookie QB taken last year. I think teams will stifle Bridgewater and Carr. Bottles looks like a bust. The rest are absolutely JAGs. So, if you're going to bypass him you better be damn sure it is worth it, because Williams is a blue chip guy and the trade down scenario could fill a lot of holes on a busted roster.

Carr had a really low YPA last year at 5.46.  That's something to keep track of this year.  Yes, I know the Raiders are a mess on offense but he had the rep of being a checkdown artist in college as well.

I'm not sure I agree.

It was big news when Mariota went back to Oregon for his senior year. And the hype train was running full speed on Winston when he won the Heisman in 2013.

This isn't a great class. Grayson, Mannion and Petty are behind them. But it is top heavy. Like i've said multiple times, Mariota and Winston project and are rated higher than anyone in the '14 class, '13 class.

And the names for the '16 class are looking weak as well.

I hope Mett was able to hit the weight room hard this offseason. You could tell core strength needed improving. Hopefully that will help with back issues too.

Tom Brady & Carson Palmer both talked about how tough it was playing the year after they tore their ACL's, they said it took them awhile to get comfortable & play confidently. This is an all time great & a very good QB playing in offenses they knew like the back of their hand, not a rookie playing for a terrible team & asked to pass 40 times a game with no running game. I think we'll see a noticeable difference in how he moves around next year & I know he said he was going to work hard to quicken up in the offseason.

A deeper dive into Carr's numbers suggest his 2014 season left a lot to be desired, however. Carr finished the season with a 38.4 Total QBR, which ranked 28th out of 33 qualified quarterbacks. His QBR didn't rank favorably among other recent rookies, either. Of the 27 rookies to qualify since 2006 -- as far back as Total QBR data goes -- Carr's QBR ranks 15th, sandwiched between EJ Manuel (38.4) andGeno Smith (35.9).

Carr's QBR suffered because of minimal gains made on his passes. He averaged a mere 5.46 yards per attempt last season, which was not only worst in the NFL last season, it was one of the worst all time.

In the history of the NFL, only three quarterbacks have thrown at least 500 passes in a season and averaged fewer than 5.50 yards per attempt: Carr, Joey Harrington and Chris Weinke. Harrington and Weinke both did so within the first two years of their careers, and neither lasted long in the NFL.

Carr's inability to hit the deep ball contributed to his low yards per attempt. Carr completed a league-worst 22.4 percent of his passes thrown at least 20 yards downfield last season, and it's not as though his receivers were to blame. The Raiders lacked big-name receivers in 2013 as well, but the team ranked 12th overall completing deep passes (38.1 percent).

Did you see Bucky Brooks "re-draft"? He did a 1st rd of how he thinks it would shape up with a years hindsight. He had the Texans taking Bridgewater #1 overall, Jax sticking with Bortles at 3, and Cleveland taking Carr 7th. The Vikings taking Jimmy Garrapolo 31. I'm reading & Im thinking, this is amazing, those guys go top 7 but Mettenberger is a backup? Gotcha.

The ever mystical eye test impressed me when I watched Carr play last year. You could just see very impressive things sandwiched inbetween mistakes. I think he has a very nice future.

Its idiotic. Garrapolo has Patriots magic dust because he's hardly played. That one especially amuses me.

I agree. His ypa is skewed due to the abortion of an offense he played in.

Derek Carr,Teddy Bridgewater and Zach Mettenberger will be the top QB's in that class when looking back on it years from now. Carr definitely has a bright future ahead and after twelve long years Raiders finally found a successor to Gannon. Bridgewater is smart and is doing everything possible to be a better QB in Minnesota i think he is the long term answer there as well. Mettenberger should be the guy in Tennessee as long as Whisenhunt doesn't get him killed first. The only thing that bothers me about Mett and his long term future isn't the possibility of them picking Mariota but Whisenhunt and how he handles the starting QB position. He doesn't seem to have much patience and now that he has found his possible starter it will be interesting to see how he handles adversity.

I think it's the second most likely possible scenario that could occur with the no. 2 overall pick, first being the Titans drafting Mariota. At this point, drafting Williams is like 4 or 5 on that list imo. Unfortunately.
