kyle021
Tons of veterans will want to come play here now... Everyone knows Lebeau is a defensive genius and he will make guys plenty of skrilla ($)
IsntLifeFunny
LeBeau will run the Titans defense despite not having the title of defensive coordinator. DC Ray Horton will keep his job, but is being demoted after opposing offenses ran through his unit for an average of 137-plus yards per game on the ground. The Titans also gave up the ninth-most passing touchdowns in 2014. LeBeau had been the Steelers' defensive boss the previous 11 seasons, and Horton worked under him in Pittsburgh from 2004-2010. LeBeau's Steelers units have been unimpressive the past couple years, but they were awfully old groups. There isn't much to build around in Tennessee aside from DL Jurrell Casey. http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/nfl/football Good or bad, it doesn't change the fact this looks like a train wreck. headhunter
Whoever is opposed to this is an idiot. He has the best credentials of any coach thats walked into Baptist Sports Park. Will we improve or see immediate results? I have no idea, Ill be surprised if we did improve but he knows his stuff, I just hope he has the final say of our defensive players, present and future. TF_Titan
I don't think this says anything about Horton. He's already established himself as a legitimate DC and I'm pretty sure if he wasn't onboard they wouldn't have done it. There's no way they would risk creating major disfunction in the coaching ranks given their current situation by bringing in LeBeau against Horton's wishes. If that were the case and they were insistent on hiring Dick they would have just fired Horton and made LeBeau the DC.

Nash
If I were building an attacking defense like LeBeau's, and was basically starting almost from scratch, I'd want him to help me pick players and get them educated in the defense if at all possible.. No wonder Dawson wasn't needed.. Le Beau will have major input to restock this defense.. it may take the whole season to look good , but this is a start.. Next we need a 2 gap NT.. Face
Or he'd rather be the DC like he was hired to do. I don't care how you spin this. It's not a good thing for Horton. It completely undermines him with the players as well as the staff. There's no way Horton is happy with this, no way. This guy was considered a top DC & possible HC candidate last year & now his team is bringing in his old mentor to run the defense? He's not an idiot, he knows what this means. That said, too bad. Horton was way too cavalier with his blitzing this year. If he did a good job this wouldn't have happened.

I'm sure the team didn't give a shit if Horton was on board or not.

There's nothing to be gained from keeping a pissed off Horton on the staff.

To be honest, being that LeBeau will be running the D, they really should've just fired Horton. But I think he's friends with Whisenhunt & Wiz didn't want to do it. He'll stick around for a year, maintain the DC label, and move on next year. It would be kind've fucked up to fire a friend this late in the process when staffs around the league are all complete. OzTitan
So basically the same role Gregg Williams had with the Titans recently?
animatormike
This is just so they can start the season saying it takes 6-8 games for the defense to get up to speed on LeBeau's system.
ctm
The front office is just streamlining the organization. Oh wait, that was the spin two days ago.
OILERMAN
There's nothing to be gained from keeping a pissed off Horton on the staff. The Titans don't like owing people money who they fire or cut, players or coaches They don't fire guys like Horton and Jerry Gray, they replace them while keeping them on the staff They'd rather Chris Johnson, Wimbley and Levitre hang around than send them packing when they are clearly mistakes. Same goes with coaches
