Face
I honestly doubt Cutler gets traded, despite all the chatter. I think they'll fire the coaches and find a coach who will work with Cutler. They may well fire the GM too. I read a stat that after Mettenberger Cutler had the highest % of passes thrown inside the pocket. I feel like Cutler always a did a ton of damage on the move & rolling out, he said he learned to throw on the move so well playing behind the Vandy OL. Maybe Shanny Jr could work there or a defensive HC that is OK with him moving around a bit. Knowing Wiz's obsession with pocket passing I don't know how great a fit he'd be. My preference, by far, is to go in with Mett & CW. If something happens with Mett injury wise or he sucks, I think CW showed enough to make me think he'd play fine with some actual talent around him. That said, Id be lying if I said I wouldn't be intrigued with what Cutler can do here if Roos came back & we got a #1 WR. Number9
As a faithful reader of the Oilerman Weekly Blog I must say I was let down with this one. I have made several posts about why I don't like the idea and will leave it at that. I will say, I don't like the idea of being the sucker who gets somebody else off the hook. Or being El Stupido in a big deal like Daniel Snyder. The Titans have a lot of needs and a lot of money. Mett looks like a for sure decent starter for three-four years as the team rebuilds. He could turn into something special with that big arm of his. Instead of Cutler, somewhere in the next two years they could find a developmental QB, maybe a 2nd rounder or a late first rounder to develop. That would make Whiz a real QB Whisperer. I really do not think Ozzie Newsome would touch Cutler in this same situation if he was handling the rebuild. I think he would pick stud after stud in the draft, pick up young free agents to develop. Cutler would just be for show. Fill the empty seats? He is emptying seats in Chicago. What the Titans need is to keep their season ticket base which is 15 years older than when they came to TN. Sure a lot of season ticket holders will go for it. But as a long term cure, it will make things worse if it goes the same way for Cutler everywhere else he has gone. What the Titans are not attracting is the young upwardly mobile new customer base. The cost for the first time PSL holder is not as economically feasible as it was for the PSL holder in 1997. Winning. A winning culture is what the Titans need. Young exciting players like Russell Wilson, OBJ, Luck, Cam, JJ Watt, a Matthews that have earned star power. Cutler has a big name, true. But why does he have a well known name? Is it for spectacular football playing? What do you think of when you think of Jay Cutler if you are the average fan that they would be trying to get to shell out for season tickets, buy PSLs? The Titans had a great thing going and screwed it up. They cheap-skated through the uncapped seasons by being one of the lowest spenders. They got stuck with CJ's contract because they had released all the top names and hadn't developed new one. Then they have been second and third tier spenders in the FA market. When they started 2014 Jake Locker was the big name on the roster. Jake Locker. He's about as bad of an image for the face of the franchise for any team in the last decade. He preceded to lead the Titans to the worse record in the franchise's TN history. The Titans need a new face. The Titans need a new big name. The fans in Chicago are demanding the team get rid of Jay Cutler. Hey, let's overpay for him and make him the new face of the Tennessee Titans! "That was easy." Win. Put a great product on the field and win. Jamalisms, IsntLifeFunny, and headhunter
