Also, I would be surprised if we surprise anyone....

but the smoke is thick and anything is on the table as far as what is fed to the media.

I don't really think Wisenhunt has found some gold on the current roster that has been totally overlooked. I assume they have a fair evaluation of everyone, and have made a list for Webster of every player and their value to the team next year, the holes that need to be filled, etc.

Dont believe much of what you hear from now thru the draft.

That said, they have the spin working hard for Jake.

Exactly.

On the second part...the only question is "why?" Because they're truly behind him as the starter? To throw other teams off the fact they're interested in drafting a QB? Some of both?

Honestly, they've said almost exactly what I would have expected regarding Locker. He's on the roster for next year, regardless. Of course they're going to talk him up, motivate him, make other teams think they're sold on him, etc... simply because it doesn't benefit them to do anything or say anything otherwise.

The draft will tell us all we need to know about their feelings for him. Draft a guy early? They're probably moving on. Draft a mid-round guy? Insurance/possible starter if he does go down. Draft a late-round guy? Rusty replacement and competition for Tyler Wilson with a long shot of becoming more. Don't draft a QB at all? Then they're probably totally sold on Jake. Just my thoughts on it.

It's better than what people like Khan and Spielman have said. They've practically admitted they're looking at QB high

I don't think we're going into this draft going we HAVE to get a QB. But if one is there, or close within a tradeable range, maybe we'll see a move

What do you see being spun? With his injury history, the only market for Jake Locker is the Titans. I guess you mean they are spinning hope for the fans....

Spinning their actual interest in a QB in the draft to prevent teams from trading up in front of them I assume

Obviously they are going to have great remarks about Locker but we are pretty much the last team picking that has a large question mark at QB.

Rams (13), Cardinals (20) and Browns (26) again are the only ones after us in the first round that I could see a QB being taken. In my mind that means that until rd 2 comes around and someone truly drops we don't have to worry about a team trading up in front of us.

Lovie Smith was hinting that the Bucs could look at QB. I'm not buying it.

I'm starting to get the feeling that one of the teams with a QB need picking ahead of us is going to pass. Maybe even two though that's more of a stretch. But I'm starting to see a scenario where a team like JAX opts to take someone like Khalil Mack instead, then takes a QB like Garoppolo or McCarron round 2. I'm probably reading a bit too much into it, but JAX did specifically request that Garoppolo be invited to the Sr Bowl. Three of the four teams in the conference championship games had QB not picked in the 1st round playing. It's still the best way, but it's not the only way to get a QB. And there's been some smoke that some teams think the drop off from tier 1 QB to tier 2 QB is not that big. It'll be interesting.

The facts are there is no better option than Locker and Locker represents the best chance for the Titans to have a franchise QB. I actually believe everything they are saying about Locker, it's not spin. He has shown enough to think he might be the guy, but only in small doses and not for an extended period. I don't believe they'll cut Fitz either. It's entirely possible they don't do anything at QB, other than possibly add a 3rd developmental QB.

In the perfect world Locker is the QB going forward and the rest of the team is built around him.

It's not a perfect world

They're certainly not spinning Chris Johnson.

If Whisenhunt truly didn't like Locker or wasn't sold on him there are other ways he could phrase it than talk about him like he's a future all pro.

I don't believe that Whisenhunt is necessarily convinced that he can make him an all pro, but I do think that he sees the talent that Locker has and believes that he can win with him. He knows the importance of the position as much as any coach in football and wouldn't be making comments about hosting playoff games at LP Field next year if he thought he had duds at QB. My guess is he probably also thinks he can with Fitzpatrick. And I do think that you can win with Fitzpatrick if you limit his attempts from the ridiculous amount at times last year to a more manageable amount this year, if he has to play.

This is exactly how I see it. Locker is our best chance by far, and I think there's a better chance we go into next year with Locker/Fitz/Wilson than any other combo. A much better chance actually. I think they go all in on Jake this year & hope he's the guy, which is what they should do.

The only thing that changes this is if we take a QB in the 1st round, which I doubt. They're not going to trade up for one, and there's almost no chance Johnny Football or Bridgewater drops. Maybe if Bortles drops & they like him but I don't know. I'll say this though, if for some reason Manziel or Teddy drop, we better take them.

Keep in mind that Wiz has said one of the things he regrets the most from his time in Ari was playing musical QBs too much. He said something along the line of needing to pick a guy and go w/ him and live w/ the ups and downs.
