Frank Andbeans
Why not? Watch this: I haven't seen a more impressive college DT. I haven't seen more impressive tape of a defensive player this year. Draft him, play him at end in the 3-4. Use him with Casey as the two linemen in nickle sub-packages. Horton has said that we aren't going to be two-gapping... everyone will be responsible for one gap. He is known for building his scheme around his talent. In a hybrid, I think you can find room to feature both him and Casey. Edited January 31, 2014 by Frank Andbeans Bluth
SuperFreak90
I like Aaron Donald a lot.
Omar
He is a damn impressive player, I would not be against this at all. They just need any type of impact player on defense at #11 imo. Bluth
Face
Would definitely be an interesting pick. I love this kid. If we still ran the Fish/Schwartz D we could just pencil him in but even as is, for the reasons listed above, he'd be a great fit. I don't know how he'd hold up as an end on the early downs, he'd probably be a better nickel rusher, which is fine. Those pass rush downs are just so huge. But couldn't Morgan fit this role? I always thought Morgan would make a great Tampa 2 DT, atleast on passing downs. I think him & Casey would be perfect in the 2-4-5, but this kid could certainly fit in. headhunter
Thats how i feel too. Donald would play Caseys spot only in our defense. Hes just so small, im sure he can get after it in the passing game but i dont see him sharing the field with Casey. Both are 3techniques and we do need a little more size against the run. NashvilleNinja
If you can't get Nix at 11, if that's who the Titans are targeting, then they need to go OLB, Mack or Barr, if possible. If they can't get one of those two then maybe they try to trade down and draft an OT or something. I just don't see spending a 1st round pick on a 1-gap tackle given how small he his, unless he was far and away the BPA you could get at your spot. Just wait until the 2nd to get someone like Hageman or Jones or whoever, guys who have more meat on the bones.
NashvilleNinja
I don't, but that's just me. Mack/Barr, Ebron, Nix, an OT, or CB. And I'd try to move down if I couldn't get one of the first couple of player.

I'd try to move down regardless of who's available (well Bridgewater/Clowney I'd pick) but Donald is at the top of my list, purely going by who will be an impact player. JLocker10
If a sufficient QB or OLB isn't there at 11, I wouldn't be opposed to Donald
headhunter
For a guy thats just 6 ft he plays straight up. And once hes doubled team, he really doesnt do much. I worry how he'll translate a the next level.
Frank Andbeans
The more I look at the schemes and think about it, the more I think we wouldn't be able to consistently fit Donald into the defense against 2WR sets. If we needed a 3 tech, I'd be pissed if we didn't take him, but that isn't our situation. gatordude731

If we get a DT I want Nix so we can finally have a run stuffing NT to fit into Hortons schemes.

He dominated the LOS and controlled the running game (played nose nearly the whole night). That game was more impressive than anything I've seen from Nix and when you watch Jernigan's other games, he's the same player. Jernigan can eat space and stand up to doubles the same as Nix, but he sheds so much better.
