Popular Post OILERMAN
I smell an upset coming in Seattle The Titans are one game into the brutal part of the schedule and need to win one of the next two to give themselves a chance to stay in the thick of the playoff race. Losing all three really puts a lot of pressure on them to win just about all of their easier games and that rarely happens in the NFL. I actually think they have a chance to win either upcoming game. The Seahawks have actually struggled offensively, especially since their OL has been ravaged by injuries. The Seahawks have been terrible converting 3rd downs and the Titans defense has been good stopping them. If they can keep this game close and avoid mistakes they could be in position to try and steal it at the end. The 49ers have looked very beatable this season. I get the feeling Kendall Wright is going to start to emerge from here on out. The Titans have started to target him down field more and he's making the most of it. He could potentially give the Seahawks taller CBs trouble the same way T.Y. Hilton did last week, both are smaller quicker WRs and Hilton lit up the Seahawk CBs last week. I have really not been that impressed with the Seahawks so far this season, at least not in the sense they are some elite team headed for the SB. I also do not believe they are unbeatable in Seattle. They struggled in the opener against the Panthers and aside from the Jags game they have struggled in their other games at times. Even the win against the 49ers the game was only 12-3 going into the 4th quarter and Wilson only completed 8 of 19 passes with a 64 passer rating. I believe the Titans DL against the Seahawks OL is a huge mismatch and if the Titans can force Wilson into passing situations they could really pressure him into mistakes. I do not think the Seahawk WRs can hurt the Titan CBs. The real concern is generating offense. I can't see a scenario where the Titans have a productive game offensively. If the Titans are going to win it's going to be a low scoring ugly game with lots of punting and field position. This is the style the Titans have won with for the most part and they'll have to do it again. I'm going to say the Titans pull the upset and will be the talk of the league for the following week. tgo
Woah Oilerman. And here I was feeling all pessimistic about this week. I'm ready to go now! Great post. Love the optimism, and pretty good analysis too.

imemtitan
I agree the Titans could pull the upset off here, the Seahawks are a good receiver and healthy o-line away from being a great team, right now I think they are a good team but there is only so much they can do with Wilson and Lynch making plays out of nothing. I'd still give the Titans a better chance at winning the 49'rs game, mostly I am concerned about Fitzpatrick and the running game against both teams, if Locker were healthy and playing like he did against the Jets I would be much more confident. nine
For whatever it's worth....earlier this week, when discussing the Vegas lines for this week's NFL matchups, ESPN Radio host Colin Cowherd's "Guaranteed Lock of the Week" was for the Seahawks to cover the 14-point spread at home against Tennessee. As he explained it, everyone else is jumping on the Broncos/Jags game....but if Denver gets up by 20+ points by halftime and sits Peyton for most of the second half, they may not cover the spread. Cowherd thinks the safest money this week is Seattle minus the points. I doubt the Titans' offense will have much success against the Seahawks' D. However, I agree that the Titans have some favorable matchups against the Seattle O. If the D can generate some turnovers in plus territory and give the offense short fields, I could see the Titans stealing one. Just like every other game this year.....it all comes down to turnovers and the team that makes the fewest mistakes.
Justafan
If Locker was in there I would feel pretty good about this game. With Fitzmagic playing I really don't feel very confident that they will pull this one out. The Titans have never been very good traveling west and I lived in Seattle for three years so trust me when I say that stadium is very difficult for visiting teams to play in. I think the Offense will be better than it was for the majority of last week but I have a hard time seeing them come in and beat the Seahawks this week. Hope i'm wrong. Starkiller
I don't see the Titans offense getting anything done on Sunday. Unless the D forces a few Seattle turnovers, this one won't be pretty. Seattle doesn't have much offense, either, but if they avoid turnovers I suspect that will be enough for them. NashvilleNinja
If we can't contain Russell Wilson we won't win the game. Here's to hoping he doesn't make our defense look pedestrian.
scine09
I hope I'm wrong but I don't see it. To me the Titans are a team with an above average defense (good, not great) that absolutely cannot run the ball and with Fitzpatrick absolutely cannot throw the ball. As others have said with Locker it may be different. But a mistake prone QB who already is one of the 10 worst QB's being kind starting this weekend in arguably the loudest stadium in the NFL with a running game that is offensive against a team with an excellent defense coming off a loss and playing at home......very tough matchup. The Seahawks have the edge in this game in just about every, if not every, category, including everywhere offensively. I think the Titans will have a very good shot next week, but not this week. Seattle wins 30-10. This game will have the feel of last year's Minnesota game while next week will have the feel of last year's Pittsburgh game. abenjami
Andrew Luck was very good against their pressure last week. He made quite a few plays Fitz has no absolutely chance of making. Lol at Peyton sitting the second half. Peyton would never let that happen.
JungleKicker
I worry about Fitzpatrick .... I especially worry about him throwing multiple picks.
