I agree with everything you wrote, even about CJ. I kept noticing how high he was playing, and I thought to myself, 'a guy running a 4.2 shouldn't run this high, he has to be hesitating or not running full speed'. It's frustrating, but at least he's getting positive yards. As for Jake, I really don't see what so many do, I guess. The KB throw is unforgivable, but I thought he was solid the rest of the game. It's tough to put a QB into a situation where he isn't allowed, because of the play calls, to develop any rhythm and is constantly asked to convert third and long. Still can't get over that damn throw, though. Fly high Jeff! Guess they made a game of it. Too bad they were only down 24 and just couldn't pull it out. Chris Johnson still has alot to offer an offense but he has less to offer a team trying to win like the Titans. He is suited to play in spread and have 10-15 touches a game and have a couple of big plays. We simply cannot afford to play small ball/power offence with a RB like CJ. What it means is you put Jake Locker in 3rd and 8 vs. 3rd and 5. Or 3rd and 6 vs. 3rd and 4. Or worse if he really strings something out. These are huge differences to a young QB like Jake where the coaching staff is continually putting him in a position to convert 3rd downs. I think that is the last time we will ever see CJ run the ball out of his end zone. It should be anyway. It's almost like every week the coaching staff learns something else about what CJ should not be doing. Does this mean advocate benching CJ? No! I advocate running an offense that is not out of Bum Phillips 1979 playbook and using the talent we have on hand to the best of their abilities. Even in CJ's glory years he was way more dangerous out of spread. 2. I appreciate Oman's more balanced approach to the critique of the passing game. Yes Locker has a long way to go and needs to even out his game. Also yes the running game needs to pick up tougher yards, the Oline needs to pass protect better, the receivers need to catch it, and the offensive design has been woeful and unimaginative. Go look at some of Young and McNair's pass attempts in games. Young once had a game where he attempted 4 passes in the entire half in 2010! McNair during his MVP season attempted 16 passes in a game and in the opener in 2004 attempted 14. The problem is is I think Munchak saw this and only knows of one way to do things. In a perfect world Bruce Arians or Mike McCoy would have been hired to coach this team and Munchak along with the rest of the Fisher holdovers would have been canned at the end of last year. I did...and it does dictate play calling but doesn't mean you have to start calling plays that aren't going to work. I'm guessing Greene is the back for those situations but I cant sit here and say that he would have been out there if healthy. Tight formations with CJ just curling up at the line is useless. Puts you in third and long. I get the whole run run pass mentality when backed up to your endzone but you still hope to at least get to a 3rd and 5 and have a decent shot of getting a first. So if you don't have your running back for those situations you have to adapt...not exactly a concept that is embraced in titan land. When Greene (gets healthy) or Battle is in the game, then we can run a more traditional offense, because they, unlike CJ, can get tough yards when the defense is stacking the line. Kind of seems like Battle is the anti-CJ. Neither has great vision, but Battle would rather hit his lineman than cut, while CJ would rather hesitate because he doesn't see a clear lane. He gets dragged like he's Tony Beckham meeting Earl in the hole. If Hill doesn't get hurt I don't know if they convert. What a difference 4 minutes makes. At 56 minutes i was thinking, "I am going to try and be nice to Scotty this week even though Locker is the hero and Greg Williams blitzed them to smithereens."
