People start running off at the mouthing spouting off their BS when they don't know what really happened. They just speculate. Maybe he did not have his phone on him when he left or after he left. Likely? No, but it is probable. From what I've read he left at night. Calls made to the team would likely have occurred the next day during the day. If he was at a hospital or something he very well may have not had his phone on him. People just need to stop jumping to conclusions. Think for yourself and take whatever the media reports with a grain of salt. Let's put this in perspective here people. He plays a freaking game for a living. His job is not life or death. Sure he makes a boat load of money for his profession, but he already has earned quite a bit over the years as well. If this is truly about the contract dispute then fine, fire away. But stop making assumptions and crucifying the man without any true knowledge of the situation. What you or I would do in a real world job does not make a damn difference in regards to his situation. Secondly, The NFL is big business so just stop with the he plays a game for living bullshit. Despite what you think, there is a certain level of accountability that is required when you work for a professional organization. I know damn well that what ever emergency befalls my family, that one of my first calls has to be to my director so that he can plan for my absence. It's called being a professional. Do the rules of professional conduct change if one is a janitor, lawyer, singer, writer, football player? It would seem priniples of professional behavior would be the same, if not the specifics. I'm not sure you can really pass this kind of judgement, as you do your fair share of "speculating" on the board to, albeit seemingly more benign in this case. He plays a game--technically yes, but when you sign a contract for millions of dollars, it's not a "game" in the same sense as my 6-year-old niece is playing checkers with the neighbor. Game in the context you're using it seems to be "for fun, at will." That is not the case in this situation: when you sign a contract with someone and agree to a certain set of criteria, you are not longer just "playing a game." You are now OBLIGATED and there are expectations, risks, and rewards dependent on your performance / contribution that have far-reaching economic consequences, from billions to the owners, to a part-time living for the guys working the food counters.
