Jamalisms
Don't read the whole thing here because it has a bit of spoilers... but as I look around the Internet it sounds like HBO has hinted in various forms that they're only going to do seven seasons... even less likely GRRM stays ahead of them: http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/05/hbo-may-reveal-game-of-thrones-ending
OILERMAN
An inquiring mind might wonder why she bothered with the secret shadow shit when she could just leech Stanis' sack and end everyone. She claimed that Stanis was too weak to make another demon baby. But she is def not invincible. Danery's dragon roasted that one bald magic dude fairly easily. Also if the God of fire is so awesome why has Berik(?) been brought back to life 6 or 7 times, why does he lose so often?
Jamalisms
GRRM is on Conan tonight... I'm going to stop obsessing about this frigging series and stop reading fan sites for the night.

Number9
I have been waiting until this part came. George R. R. Martin will ice any character. It makes the books real because you do not know what in going to happen next. Walter Frey is the most devious character in the books. There was a lot more to the wedding feast that lead up to it's bloody ending, but the HBO rendition is very, very good. In real life the fair haired boy does not win all the battles. Rob wanted to be King, but he did not have the real character to be King. He had a little too much Eddard Stark in him.

I am Ok with him not writing any more. I really thought the last few books lost something.

Magic isn't invincible, just powerful. And Beric isn't magical, just a man. It's Thoros of Myr who is the one with the magic to resurrect him. They make it clear in the books that magic was pretty weak before the dragons were re-born into the world. Thoros didn't have any real power before that. Melisandre's powers were minimal before that. Even the Kings Landing pyromancers were able to create far more wildfire than expected after the dragons were hatched.

Yea that's a good point, although when he fought the Hound he did say the Lord of Light would determine whether he was guilty or not as if it was the Fire God doing the fighting rather than him. Starkiller
It's unclear if there is an an actual Fire God in Martin's world or simply people with magical powers attributing it to a god. Even Thoros didn't believe until he brought Beric back to life the first time. If its a god, why did the dragons have to be reborn for its power to return? There are plenty of religions in the world. The Northmen believe in the old gods and had trees with faces. Most of the rest of Westeros has the Seven. The Ironborn have the drowned god. We will see more from across the sea later. Also, The witch who saved Drogo and accidentally the dragons used blood magic but didn't follow the fire god. Not sure if they established a religion for her though. reo
Jamalisms
Religions in general have increased power since the dragons came back. I tend to think that religion + the Others is the real story and the Iron Throne is just a distraction for the readers and for the populace that needs to get it's act together or be wiped out. I posted about this pages ago. The real story will become Daenerys and her dragons vs the Red god and the Others imo. Winter is coming after all. I think her, Jon and maybe Arya and Bran are the primary characters in this series. Edited June 6, 2013 by reo
Legaltitan
Yeah man. I love these scenes. Two of my favorite characters. I bet the Tyrells will be the next to be involved in a major plot. I could see Margery or Olena Tyrell be the ones who finally hire some badass fucker to slit Joffrey's throat. And you know what? Hell, I could see Tywinn being behind that as well. No way - family always first with Tywin.

(For those who don't know, the White Walkers were called the Others in the book, but they changed that for TV because of Lost). The Fire God is clearly set against the Others, but I'm not sure if they would be aligned with or against Daenerys and the dragons. Presumably with her. Of course Bran and his powers are headed North beyond the Wall to find the 3 Eyed Raven, so that will fit in somewhere as well. As for Arya (and I think Tyrion is the other major figure, and possibly Jamie), it's unclear how they will figure in.
