Do you have a "fortress of solitude," Oman?

I just put another $1k into my Roth IRA for this year.  Hoping for a market bounce but also hoping for a little more pain (opportunity).

What you mean to say is, many great opportunities to buy happen during Republican administrations.

What you have to think about now is - to what degree has the dollar based financial system contributed to the overwhelming bull trend of the US stock market?

Trump has done a lot to make countries question relying on the dollar.  I think I’ll start buying proportionally more foreign total stock funds as a hedge.

No..

I mean exactly what I meant and here’s the facts.

The S&P hit an all time high in mid-February.  Since then it has lost about 17.5%.

Bitcoin hit an all time high in mid-January.  Since then it has lost about 24%.

Buying the dip, Abe?  I put in a couple thousand and a couple thousand still sitting on the sidelines.  Great opportunity if you believe in the future of America.

Current Portfolio (ETFs):

gold/silver minors 35%

US Large Cap 15%

Emerging Markets: 10%

US Materials: 10%

US MidCap: 10%

US Small Caps: 5 %

US Small Cap Value: 15%

YTD since January up 11% overall. Not bad.

I’m up 45% this year on $GDX

Also Emerging Markets due to the weak dollar outperformed domestic. My main portfolio this year is up 35%. Not bad.

In the big dip in April I loaded up on Oil stocks. That’s the play IMO. Most of those stocks I keep in a separate portfolio. Got OXY, COP, XOM, & RIG. I just keep smashing buy on those names.

You can still make money irregardless of America falling or rising over the next few decades. Too many people are conflicting politics within their investment decisions & that’s why most stay poor.

I wasn't really trying to get political with that statement. But I'd assume people who believe the opposition was going to be disastrous for the economy would probably preemptively sell before the administration takes over. I've witnessed the market go up during both Republican and Democrat admins.

I was more talking about the American economic system that continued to produce some of the best companies in the world. I don't see a reason to bet against that.  Also, as long as the Fed continues to print money, in the long run, the market and assets in general will inevitably run up.

But since it became popular for retail investors to "buy the dip," I'm just wondering if the days of prolonged corrections or crashes are over?

What should middle class and poor people do to prepare for the impending doom?  Buy Bitcoin, guns/ammo, and gold, Oman?
