It is August 2019. The Cincinnati Bengals have a new coach in Zac Taylor. The top QB prospects are Justin Herbert who has a ton of questions and Tua who also has a ton of questions. If you recall, Mat

Here is the truth about the draft the nerds and fans who follow it all year will never admit; Its a total crap shoot and many times guys don't show up on their radar or even get into the 1st round unt

There is another fallacy to this is a weak QB class.   Even if true and the odds go down as a result, we won't be drafting an entire class.  We would be drafting one guy and everything depen

I'm all for that, but group think around here horrible.

It can be but don't mistake consensus for group think. You don't have to agree with every single point to conclude that it was time to move on. For example, my biggest beef with Vrabel was his insistence in being involved in player acquisition. He needed to let the GMs do their jobs without his undue influence. I don't think he was a bad coach like many here do.

Not trying to be a dick, but what did he do that makes you think he wasn’t a bad coach?

I  see nothing wrong with that, but don't go kissing the owner's butt when she embarrasses JRob by firing him midseason the day after an embarrassing loss.  Has that move improved the team?  JRob's record as GM was 66-48.  Since firing JRob, the Titans have six wins and 20 losses.

JRob brought in  Mike Vrabel*   Dean Pees*  Matt Lafleur*

It is not about whether I like JRob or Vrabel.  It is about how my team is viewed by the NFL. We were a playoff team.  We got big games on TV.  Nashville is one of the hottest destinations in the country.  Not one known experienced successful GM applied for the job.  Okay.  Who came to apply for the HC position?

There's a reason for that.

History books are full of rooms of really smart men forming consensus over some really bad ideas. Group think and mob mentality are definitely real things.

Couple of things.

The team had a strong identity and rallied around it.

He had a very strong grasp of the rules/exploits.

Good clock management with few blunders mixed in.

The team routinely punched above it's weight early on.

He was great at getting guys we acquired during the season mentally prepared to play quickly.

I could list more if you really want me to but I think you get the gist. Obviously he also has things that I don't like but overall I think he's a good football coach. It's good personality and temperament that make him so flawed that his football acumen can't seem overcome it.

That's a fault high achieving individuals have.  They can see farther and understand better, but lack the ability to accept input.

Vrabel sucks he took over a 13 wins Browns team and they are now 1-3. Vrabel is why the Titans fell off in a big way. He will never be a good HC anywhere else, this is entirely different than the Derrick Henry situation

I think it's a stretch to say he "took over" the Browns. The dude is barely an assistant. Also, Watson is the main reason they suck.

What on earth are you talking about?  He isn’t even a coordinator on the Browns.  Their problem is Watson sucks and I’m not sure how you are blaming him for that.

I don’t even like Vrabel that much but I think he’s a good coach who may never be great because of terminal flaws.  And he definitely needs a strong GM
