WTF is Levis doing? Killing the Team

The big plays help mask the down to down issues that don't seem to be improving.  It's why the offense is so hit or miss and when the hits are not there, it's awful.

This isn’t a team or QB that can operate at a high level in the RZ, that alone cooks the team. Can’t rely on explosive TDs every week.

All of those guys except maybe Sanders have more red flags than Levis ever had. Milroe? Are you fucking kidding me? He looks as bad as AR did at FL. If you don't like Levis' pocket presence Nussmeier makes him look like Tom Brady.

Bullshit. Levis was unhealthy, inaccurate, and took tons of sacks. None of the guys I mentioned check all three of those boxes. And again. YOU DONT KNOW SHIT.

You probably thought the Mahomes or Josh Allen picks were reaches too.

Y'all are getting too emotional over this.

Its the same people preaching the same patience and posting shit from the same sources.

The difference now is that he strung together a few decent passing games and one led to a win. So now, instead of enjoying that, its apparantly a tragedy that we did well and won a game and the young QB didnt look completely like trash.

It’s not a tragedy at all. Im glad we won, just don’t think the Levis love is warranted when he still sucks ass. It’s like the absurd Mariota/Tannehill arguments that would hinge on a couple boom/bust plays a game. Nothing rational.

@titanruss I'm really not sure one can say the Chargers and Vikings games would be considered decent or good in the context of winning football.  They scored 30 points (3 TD's, 3 FG's) in the two games (15 PPG) and 7 of those came with less than a minute left down 3 scores.  Also, 2 of the 3 TD's were deep shot passes they hit (51 to Ridley, 98 to NWI).

At least in yesterday's case, we saw the offense score 30 points (albeit they gave back 7 on the pick six).   Of legit concern, though, is that in all 3 TD drives, they were also fueled by deep shot passes (38 yard TD to NWI, 63 yard pass to Ridley).  The 70 yard Chig TD pass was an explosive but a relatively short pass where most of it was on YAC.

23 net points is better for sure but you still have nearly every TD drive reliant on a 50 yard play.  And when they don't get it, the production on offense is non-existent.  Mainly because Levis is slow to process in the pocket and at times simply doesn't see open people and instead takes unnecessary sacks or worse like pick sixes.

The next six weeks will be interesting.  If Levis is indeed making real progress, I'd expect the PSR to go down, more point producing drives, and simply better down to down play.  If not and we see this 2023 like "all or nothing" results, the offense will still be bad.

There is still a lot of football for Levis to play this year and time to see if he can improve and gain consistency.

But regardless of whether he enters 2025 as the starter the team is in the QB market.

The team made a mistake last year and skipped QB. Now we pay for it

I think you just gotta throw some darts and hope you get lucky. Nussmeier, Milroe, and Sanders are all pretty intriguing to me. Maybe Dart??? I feel like you really need to consider swinging on one of those guys in the first or second.

Talk to me about Milroe. I haven't gotten into the tape for any of these guys yet so my opinion is pretty uninformed but the general feeling I've gotten from seeing a bit of Milroe is that he's absolutely terrible. What do you see about him that you think will translate? I'd like to have a more balanced view of him before I watch his tape.

Only way I’m taking a shot is if one of them falls to the 3rd or 4th. No way I’m spending a premium pick on Nuss or Milroe. Not with what they have shown.

Watch the LSU and then the Oklahoma game.  Milroe had a 180 degrees the  opposite performance.

He’s maybe 90% as athletic as Lamar Jackson is and throws a great deep ball.

I think if he had played in another conference he’s a heisman candidate. Watch the Georgia game highlights.

I wouldn’t want him in the top of the first but he’s definitely got the most upside. People think he might run a 4.3.

But he’s had some real stinkers too. In his defense, this might be the worst group of skill position players Alabama has had in 10+ years, so it’s hard to say how good he really is. Quinn ewers had a huge drop off after losing his WR1, WR2, RB1, and TE.

Time has already told. He’s nearly a finished product when it comes to pocket presence. Roethlisburger was the only qb in recent memory who improved significantly in this regard. And a lot of his issues with sacks were him actually extending plays not just walking into sacks like Levis does. It also took Big Ben 10 years or so to really improve in that area.

My only hope for levis to fix this is that he is taking sacks in diffrent ways now. He was oblivious, he then went to drifting into them, and now he is steping up in the pocket into them. So he is making some effort to work on it....

Not that we have seen any progress other than he takes less negative yardage now which is a poor consolation prize.

He may be near as athletic but he doesnt have the same feel for the field that jackson has.

Milroe is absolute trash. When he played two high quality defenses on the road, calling him a deer in the headlights is insulting to deer in the headlights.

The LSU game, he didn't do it by throwing the ball. LSU for some reason just let him run wild. He's got athletic ability but there is absolutely no reason to consider Milroe at all. He's not a NFL caliber player.

Not only that, read an Alabama board. The general theme is that Milroe is a locker room cancer and they would be thrilled if he went pro or hit the transfer portal.
