So it appears that the "collab" that AAS envisioned was just placating Vrabel who wanted full control. He tried to take over even under direction to collab. He failed.

Then he got the BBC. I'm with it. I was definitely wrong about Vrabel for too long.

I think we'll get it. Ran seems like a man of the people, oddly like Jrob in that respect. The difference is that Ran does it because he likes people and they like him. Jrob did it for attention.

I wonder if Ran's silence was encouraged by Vrabel? Maybe he pointed out that he didn't want a gym taking the spotlight over the team like Jrob did. Looks like he didn't think a "GM" should take his credit, in retrospect.

What about the KC guys?

Ran hadn't been hired (but had interviewed) when their names leaked as possible OC interviews last year so maybe it had nothing do do with him.

Maybe those guys came up because AAS suggested Vrabel look outside his box for candidates. Seems like a big possibility to me now that he's been fired. I think something akin to the Mularkey situation happened. Vrabel probably would have needed to make a lot of changes to his staff to stay the HC

Robinson was a man of the people?  He was a fat fuck scout that started out blubbering at his first presser and then near the end at the Combine.  He's due to be cannonballing in a Bass Pro Shop any day now.

He had sort of a rags to riches story from the sticks, and wearing his emotions was quaint at first because we spent so much time with Webster and the Adams Mafia. He did turn into a fool, but he was a man of the people first.

This is the best setup.

The GM picks his head coach.

In charge of the coaching search doesn't necessarily mean that he makes the final decision.  He might, but he might not.

Well yeah - Strunk will make the decision. Hard to see her going against his recommendation though, but you never know.

Transparent? The titans have been wrapped in 20foot thick lead walls for the last 6 years.

He had a whistle!  Show the man some respect!

Or the new GM wherever Vrabel goes

It's pretty obvious AAS as a ton of respect and trust for Ran. I suspect she'll have input on the decision but will let him do his job.

I think she makes the final call but he has major, major input. The coach/GM reporting alignment is another issue.
