Which the roster certainly is a problem, but that is mutually exclusive to his philosophy of letting off the gas with leads and thinking that physically imposing one's will on a team is the main goal. Scoring points and affecting the opposing QB is the main mission. That is done through the passing game on both sides. You can have the number 1 ranked rushing offense and defense and still be a bottom feeder if you can't protect your QB or affect the other QB.

W/o Tannehill we coulda been in range of Tua or Herbert. I think either of them coulda bought them more time.

It would be funny if they passed over them due to race/culture in Tua's case and college in Herbert's case. Neither of them seem like Vrabel guys.

Solid chance we get Brady in FA with definite higher draft picks and actually get a better T in the first and a QB to sit and learn- like Hurts.

Tannehill fucked us from the get-go!

What Meathead doesn't realize is that the running game is a complement and the offense must run through the qb.   You can use the RB as a grind out the clock and a change up to the passing game but your explosive plays will come out of the passing game.  That means getting WR who can separate and have juice and a pass blocking OL.  I watched bits and pieces of SEA@DAL and those teams have way more speed than we do, actually everyone else does outside of the Pats.

The pass defense is a little different because I think he knows that affecting the qb is #1.  It just contradicts with his conservative philosophy as a HC.  I mean he plays the soft zone (even when the defense had players) because he believes that'll bleed off the clock and make it easier to win.  I don't think he realizes that letting the other qb getting into a groove is a bad thing.  Also, it's quite comical that they preached getting turnovers on defense, yet I think they maybe last in forcing them on defense.

Almost everything he says turns out the opposite.  He was going to take use from good to great, not run into stacked boxes, not trade AJ while he is coach, defense is going to get more turnovers....it's insane that people still believe anything that comes from his mouth.

Read this... Super interesting especially when you account for BB's and Tomlin's tenures.

Read the entire article.  We are fucked if Vrabel stays.  There was some stat later on in the article, something to  the effect of if you have a top 5 offense only you have a 14% chance to go to the super bowl.  Top 5 Defense only the percentage chance drops to 8%.  Just doing enough on offense combined with a strong defense doesn't work anymore.  You gotta score and score a lot.  He needs to go.

The part I found surprising was that on average, offensive minded HCs have higher ranked defenses based on EPA than defensive minded HCs. I imagine there are 2 main reasons for that: 1. better offenses spend more time with the lead therefore making the opposing offenses more predictable which leads to better defensive EPA 2. Offensive HCs seem much more willing to turn the defensive side of the ball over to a DC with minimal interference.

So, they don’t hire their best friends to fill all 3 coordinator spots? What idiots! Vrabel playing chess not checkers

Kyle Shanahan has went on and one about how important it is to have a good defense to compliment the offense. He understands perfectly.
