The repubs had hearings about 'crime' in DC , NYC -- theatrical, with no intent to help anyone other than Trump by vilifying the cities or their local DAs. Yet quashed any attempts for a single hearing on gun violence in schools -- scores of real death and terror -- despite the majority of the people's will for at least debate on the topic. Oddly enough, I think it did move the needle on public sentiment and discontentment with Congress, that's why it's referred to often. The cost of innocent lives from the lethality unleashed into our society from high muzzle velocity, military grade weaponry is too high. I fall on the side of the argument of protecting people over profits of gun manufacturers.
