Maine Mass Killing Spree

Another tragic shooting. We already know the response or lack thereof..

Have yet to hear of a hero with a semi- automatic weapon stopping anyone with an equal weapon or anything beyond heavy police response stopping them.

Some might like to think of Maine as hippy country, which it is to a degree, but those hippies are armed to the nth degree - may even put to the south to shame in firearms. Didn't matter in this instance, nor will it ever matter as long as they're allowed.

Can't wait for the the idiot puppets to spew their talking points in about 12 hours.

This is the part that drives me up a wall.   Republicans want to deflect attention away from the ridiculously lax gun laws and blame it on mental health issues.....okay, fine.

“We’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas!”

Haha damn. This is exactly right. The fucks went so far as to block data so there couldn't be a congressional study and hearing done on the topic.

No surprise, just disgust and sadness. At least it wasn't a school this time.

Another crazy person with a gun. Let's not try and take the gun away. Let's try and make sure nobody is ever crazy again. That'll work.

They won't even fund behavioral health. In fact, it's being stripped away by a lot of republican lead legislatures at the state & local level...cuz Jesus saves

Hold on.  We’ll need that additional funding for social services to account for the increased birth rates after Dobbs. Oh wait…

If that's the case....then surely the Republicans are proposing sweeping healthcare legislation that will help people with mental health issues get the help they need.....right?

Nope....not a fucking word.

Conservatives are always preaching about the importance of  protecting the children......especially when it comes to drag queens,  LGBTQ,  healthcare, and anything remotely related to gender identity.

Meanwhile..... in the United States,  guns are now the #1 leading cause of death for children under the age of 18.     And Republicans aren't saying a fucking word.

As long as they have the “it’s a mental health problem” argument to fall back on they can pretend that it isn’t actually the guns. So they have no incentive to actually do anything to try to alleviate the mental health problem, otherwise they might actually have to do something to solve the gun problem next.

Nope.

The Covenant School shooting in Nashville a few months ago perfectly captured the Republicans’ unwillingness to take any measures whatsoever to curtail gun violence and mass shootings.

Within days of that shooting, the Tennessee state legislature quickly passed a resolution barring the introduction of any legislation related to gun laws…. followed by the suspension and quick expulsion of those who demanded the issue be brought to the floor.

That’s the Republican policy in a nutshell:   if they ignore the issue hard enough, the problem will simply go away.
