Can’t remember which podcast but someone from the ringer said, “Imagine if the 49ers somehow got Herbert.” And I winced because they’d go 17-0. That team is completely stacked and we’re all lucky that they made the Trey Lance trade.

Jamalisms
Andrew Luck might be the most fascinating athlete in a long time but we (broadly defined) don't really discuss it much because the fascinating thing is that he stepped away and hasn't really looked back. Like, he really doesn't care and doesn't define himself that way. I'd love an autobiography on his whole thought process and relationship with the sport even when he was younger. Have to imagine he always had some mental / emotional distance from it.

Given he's kind of a weirdo, I'm sure he's more than set for life.

Mythos27
Football, even at the lower levels, is an absolutely brutal, merciless sport. If you don't absolutely love enough to sacrifice everything, including your health you need to quit immediately. The second you're out there and are worried about anything other than making the play, it's time to step away. I respect Luck for doing what was best for him despite surely knowing he was letting a lot of people down.

Its been a long while and I'm not sure if it was just them or not.. Titans fans did it too... but I think there was a colts reddit thing for a while where Luck - possibly himself - would write letters to his lover/wife at home as if he was away in the civil war for each weeks game. Was written very in Gone with the Wind style English. Maybe it started because he was a civil war nerd.
