the reality is the team desperately wants someone other than Tanny to be the starter, but they may end up stuck with him…..

Exactly.  My "guess" is that they didn't think he would last, so the plan was Skoronski in the first and a skill player in the second, intending to take another flyer on a QB later to compete with Willis.  

Then, the impossible happened, and Levis fell.  They saw an opportunity to get great value for a guy they had a high grade on and decided to shift strategies.  

 

That makes way more sense than the hypothesis that they REALLY want to move on from Tannehill and DESPERATELY tried to get Levis... but not enough to pass on a guard!

 

Of course, that's all complete conjecture.  What I know is they took a Guard at 11.  They made Levis compete for the backup and still kept Willis.  They got DHop, which means they think they can compete with this roster, which means Tannehill.  They like Levis and Willis as prospects because they traded up for both.  I "Think" that's because they like value picks at QB.

Yes, but you were quoting my comment. I was responding to another poster who says it's "obvious" the Titans were forced to "aggressively" pursue a QB, which is why they went after Levis as the successor to Tannehill for 24.  

 

If you surmise that they liked Levis and decided to take a flyer because they saw the value of him being available in the early second... welcome to reality, friend.  We agree.

Also, trade up scenarios fall through all the time…..(see stroud) but ultimately they got him in the 2nd.

We still don't even know how serious they were about Stroud.  Another assumption based on fan hopium.

Willis developing is great news for TN because They now have a way to let Tanny walk if things continue as they have.  With this OL I am sure Willis gets some real time this yr again.

I agree to a point, and will give examples in the hopes this won't devolve into right/left talking points.  The Biden laptop was labeled 'misinformation' when it was true and many knew it to be true while labeling it that.  On the flip-slide, Ivermectin is considered an essential medicine by the WHO and has been for decades, while CNN portrayed it as horse dewormer.  That's not wrong, exactly, but the obvious intent to portray it as ONLY horse dewormer, was misinformation.  

 

I agree about people not being discerning enough, but disagree with it being the responsibility of anyone else to discern for them.  There are people on both sides that refuse to leave their echo chambers or consider things from the other side.  I think it's harder for people on the right to stay within that echo chamber since Hollywood, music, and even sports, tend to lean left.  For the left, staying in their echo chamber is pretty easy, and I think a main reason why they've abandoned classic liberalism in favor of wokeism.

ilAside from the fact that he didn’t get an extension, the team drafted developmental QBs two years in a row, they implemented a new offense and tried to trade up for stroud…..ur right I’m both ignorant and misrepresenting the facts.

They do love Tannehill, they just don't 35-40 million dollar multi year extension love him, especially since they as a team never use the franchise tag ond know it will be available to buy time if necessary. One does get the distinct impression that Ran wouldn't mind completing the rebuild process with a QB on a rookie contract.

Teams don't hand out extensions for fun, the risk they lose Tannehill or will have to pay considerably more for him if they don't extend now is pretty minimal. Where as the risk he hits an age/health wall is real. It isn't about being "desperate" to move on (lol), it's about not needing to take action on it, yet.
