Which means they need to create about another 10M in cap space to break even. Are you referring to Tannehill or Byard?

No I’m just being realistic about the ceiling of this team, which is about 9-8. If we managed to get Caleb Williams, it’d be the quickest rebuild of all time and set us up for super bowls, not first round exits.

Probably not by a ton, but could give a little more space Possible, but as big as his signing bonus will be I think they will aim for it to be mostly cap neutral. Tex in a Can
If we were going to extend Tannehill, why haven't we done it already?

They are in draft mode now so no need for cap space until after that. Add that what happens if Stroud or Young unexpectedly slide? Other thing to consider is that now that the vet QB market has done their shuffling, Tannehill doesn't have a ton of leverage in terms of another team now that spots are filled. Of course, he does have the leverage in that the Titans options for getting cap space are limited and a Landry restructure won't be enough and they clearly don't want to do that with Byard or Henry (assuming they are not cut or traded). bizzyeddie
wouldn't Tannehill want the Titans to have cap space to add players to improve the team as opposed to using that as leverage.

Who's out there that will move the needle in FA? Not any receivers.

Maybe they are waiting out the Jets to finally release Corey Davis. Not really a needle mover, but he is better than any WR on the roster not named Treylon Burks. Just slightly above "E" but the fuel light is most defiantly blinking. just seems like that would have been Tannehills approach from the very beginning of the off season. You would think he would be about the ring at this point in his career. He's gonna get paid so not trying to say he needs to take a paycut but he would probably want to help the team acquire talent...and there were some players out there that would help including on the o-line. just doesn't seem like both parties are 100% on board with an extension. or maybe they got this shit worked out already and we will hear about it when it's official. In one of the Carthon interviews/pressers, he made a comment that they had not talked to his representatives about a new deal but that was early on. Certainly could have changed but I also think both sides wanted to see what happened in the QB market too - Carr, Jones, Geno, Jimmy G... That all said, the Titans were not in on any high priced FA's. They targeted younger guys with upside on short, prove it deals. As of now, they have the 7.2. M in cap space and can ride through the draft before they have to do something to create enough cap space to round out the 90 man, sign the rookies, budget for the PS, and IR. At this point, Carthon and Vrabel have left a bunch of options on the table on how to get space. Tannehill's extension along with a Landry restructure would seem to be the most likely methods but you also have questionable statuses on Byard, Henry, and possibly Autry, Tart, and Brewer to be in play.
