The key I've always been told to look for w/ bites was venom tracks and w/ where that's at, I doubt you'd see any. Get it checked, man. Better safe than sorry. freakingeek Posted April 26, 2012 Report Share Posted April 26, 2012 Yes is itches very badly. And there are like several clusters of bumps, each cluster containing 3-4 bumps or more. Most bumps very small, but one is a large welt looking thing. Blisters are a sign of brown recluse bite and so is the itching. You can get an anti-venom shot but you have to do it within a few hours of being bitten. The following is for brown recluse bites: If bitten and you know not what did it and the following occurs GET MEDICAL AID. At the location a severe itch occurs ( similar to poison ivy), at the location about an inch in diameter becomes red and may have small bubbles similar to poison ivy, leakage begins at the center, you may begin a fever (low grade), redness (infection) begins to project out from the center. If these occur within 24 hours...GO TO THE MEDICAL AID CENTER!!!! You may have the opportunity to avoid the nasty consequences of a bite! There has been an anti-venom developed ( At Vanderbilt I might add) but it must be administered soon after the bite. Also, it has one serious setback...should another bite occur (at any time) because of the anti-venom the results of the second bite are much more serious! I would think hard about using the anti-venom. The bad.... Brown recluse venom is VERY potent, it destroys the tissue! If not treated fast the complications can be quite severe. Four to six months to heal, several episodes of surgery, the last several being skin grafts. There are more than several cases of amputation! Those who wait too long can be in very serious trouble! The good.... Different people react differently to the bite. Some have no ill effects other than mild discomfort. Some react violently and necrosis can occur which could require surgery and skin grafts. They are rarely fatal. But judging by your reaction, I'd get in to see someone as quick as you can. Cyrus Posted April 26, 2012 Report Share Posted April 26, 2012 Looks like an allergic reaction based on the rash size, shape and color. Are you sure you got bit by something? Generally a bite will have a lot of swelling and will emanate from a radius but I can't say that's always the case. I would try and think back to when it started. Did you change deodorants or any type bath product? I would try applying something topical (hydrocortisone) to it. Probably best to check with a doctor just in case. Unless he only uses deoderant on one arm, I'd be skeptical but I guess it's possible. I got a rash one time from those scented fabric softener sheets you put in the dryer. I would see a doctor though, sounds cliche but better to be safe than sorry for things that look bad and you have absolutely no clue what it is. Apparently i'm allergic to something in Old Spice. I know it sounds weird but sometimes it only happens under one arm. I've had the same thing happen to me before (although not nearly as severe). Some times it's just any agitation or sweating that might do it. Seeing as Legaltitan may spend a lot of time at a computer at work it's possible his arms could be in a number of different arrangements and he could only sweat only under one arm. That could cause him to perspire, his pores to open, the deodorant to create an allergic reaction, him to scratch and the rash to spread/develop.
