The media is still angry about Afghanistan...

Circling back to this. Notice how Biden's approval ratings somehow never recovered to pre-Afghanistan withdrawal levels?

Biden's approval was in the mid 50's before this, tanked into the lower 40s/upper 30s and never recovered. But the withdrawal didn't impact most people's everyday lives.

If so many polls had certain Republican candidates ahead in midterm races (Lake being the biggest example), it calls into question just how incorrect Biden's approval polls truly were and continue to be.

Its going to be 220-215 or so which is a terrible showing for the party out of power in midterms. Only a fool would think the GOP had a good showing even with barely taking the House.

do I sound upset? This was one of the worst showings by the out of power party in 100 years. The GOP are the ones that should be asking themselves how to move forward and you idiots are going to nominate Trump again instead. If anyone needs to cope its your boomer ass.

One reason I would personally be less hyped about the the national prospects of Whitmer or Shapiro is that we know they were beneficiaries of running against terrible candidates. Charlie Crist might be a bad candidate, but Whitmer and Shapiro's opponents ran well behind the general Republican votes in their states.

I'd also pump the breaks a bit on DeSantis hype myself because I think success with Florida demographics doesn't necessarily carry over nationally.

To be fair you never know how a local or state wide politician will do until they run a national campaign. Running for president is where dreams and ambition go to die and very few come out the other side. Out of the current bunch of Dems, I think Whitmer has the best shot if her message resonates with voters.

But are voters going to turn away from their cult leader of over half a decade???

a decent portion will. but not enough to help out the other republicans.

if he wins the primary he will lose from lack of motivation by republicans because there ARE plenty of more sensible ones that are just done with him. ..., and it'll also be two years later and more republicans are dying than being made.

I was trolling them. Biden’s agenda is done. No more shitty legislation. Gridlock is always best for the country.

Your lack of self-awareness is disturbing -- coping by promoting paralyzing dysfunction, ffs.  Like many current repubs the idea of compromising and forging net positive legislation is not what you think government is supposed to do for the American people.  Everything now for many repubs is some sort of binary , win/loss existential threats to some idealized America.  Most Americans want their government to work, not fight all day in fake battles of ideology and fearmongering.  But you keep cope alive, and let's see how gridlock is rewarded in 2024.

Nope, and the rest of the GOP will fall in line once he wins the primary. They know he'd run as an independent if he loses the primary.

I give these sumbitches til Thanksgiving before they start coalescing back around him.

The problem is independents and even a lot of Republicans will never vote for Trump again.

They're likely fucked either way
