Then the question becomes what do the moderate republicans who were elected in Biden districts (15 or so) do? Scalise is more conservative than McCarthy. And it's only throwing them a lifeline if that Republican then toes the line and circles the wagons against everything Biden wants to pass. Again, I don't know who would be a "moderate" but if there is a real moderate out there then I wouldn't be against Dems helping him/her get elected. First vote was as follows: Hakeem Jeffries – 212 Kevin McCarthy – 203 Andy Biggs – 10 Jim Jordan – 6 Other – 3 It would take 11 Republicans to vote present for Jeffries to win.
